Tried this?
Goto the properties of the flash drive and then to the security tab. Check if any of the entries have Write → Deny

Happy to hear that, maybe you were desperate to solve this issue as its a gift from someone special
^^^
thnx bro
yeah i was just too eager to get it back to work
So no generic soln to this problem ?
i been trying my kingston flash drive to get back to normal but isnt helping.
good to hear!
yeah still no generic solution, but if you keep trying different stuff on it you’ll surely get it right one day, so keep trying
thnks buddy…
What brand of flashdrive is it ?
^^^
its not a branded one dude it was custom made and its a very stylish key chain with my name on it, gifted by someone special
Yeah, but all that means is – its just a rebadge of something else.
When you pop the drive in does the drive’s disk label in file explorer identify any brand ?
Like when i pop my corsair or kingston drives in, i can see the name attached to the drive letter is what i mean.
Otherwise does anyone know of a tool that can identify what make a flashdrive is ?
Why am i asking all this. You notice how after trying a ton of tools nothing worked until you came to one which did. Well, there’s a reason that one worked and the others did not. Your drive most likely is a transcend and transcend drives do things in a non-standard way which is bad.
When problems like this arise and generic tools do not work, the first thing to do is identify which brand the drive is and then use that vendor’s tools to fix the problem.
Hope this demystifies things
before when i had the problem it didn’t show any disk label or anything which tells which brand it is, but after formatting the drive with JetFlash Online Recovery tool it shows as transcend…
you can use Active@ KillDisk software, it shows the complete info about the Pendrive’s Make, version, Serial number and everything…
And does this tool also confirm that your pendrive is a transcend ?
i too have a kingston 4gb pen drive but windows doesn’t recognize it, any idea
it doesn’t confirm it, it just shows the brand name as JetFlash Transcend 4GB…
Yeah, when you used that tool it updated the drive with that info.
As i googled around for this it can get quite technical as there are lots of fake pen drves around.
Hope you trust whomever made that custom drive and they used a branded usb and not some fake.
This din’t work for me.
Make: Sandisk cruzer edge 4GB
@ketansrihas try HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool
