Yes. It is a good distro but it is maintained by only one person as far as I can remember. Developers are excited for couple of years and then abandon projects.
Donât listen to virgin arch users ![]()
Linux users have a reputation, and you can see why.
Most of it is the same under the hood, distros just have some differences in default software selection, and how they are delivered. I can move firefox from snap to apt via ppa if i wanted too.
I dont really see any reason to be too emotional about any of this, really. Linux is nice and you get plenty of choice within a distro, and in selecting a distro. For my purpose, (k)ubuntu LTS is fine. Arch was nice too, i used it for almost a decade but then my requirement changed.
Not worth the time, especially for desktop usage. Dont like win11, just stick with win10 iot ltsc⌠Mainly because the userbase and devs gatekeep new users too much. It was never a smooth experience, except some distros like pop os, manjaro and now the bazzite. But still for most basic tasks you read 5 hours of wiki, and spend the whole day tring to fix something.
Whats the need to type an essey in terminal when you can do the same with 2 or 3 clicks on proper gui..
One wouldâve thought that this was a Win thread going by the title! ![]()
Whenever a serious bug appear in msft windows which is quite frequest - bash windows - say how good is linux - mock linux users for being obtuse - chinks in armor of linux comes out - windows ltsc is goodâŚ! - rinse repeatâŚ![]()
Na, linux+KDE is great for desktop usage. I use both, ltsc and linux. Prefer linux overall but right now playing games on windows due to HDR which needs more recent linux builds. All my work is on linux for few years now, i coded my own tools and got away from windows for work !
Anyone who grew up with linux would feel windows to be even worse than someone on windows looking at linux and not comfortable with initial effort.
Maybe 10-15 years ago you might have a point, but not today. Only factor that is always an issue is some proprietary app that is windows only. Atleast that problem is more or less solved for games.
Anyway, no point making this windows vs Linux thread. That too from linux vs linux, no idea how that happened lol
