It’s to do with their Manifest v3 mandate which has been sometime in the making and now being put to practice.. any addons not meeting that criteria get disabled and removed.
If sticking to Chrome then either move to ublock origin lite or adguard.
PS : Does not impact me, as I moved to Librefox.

Similarly, I gave up on Chrome completely (even on my phone) and switched entirely to Firefox.
