^^ Do you own ATI card at the moment to call their drivers shitty?
They are different, and yes you need to update drivers or game profiles for both manufacturers now thanks to the way drivers work these days. And there are plenty of good drivers from AMD. You got to see 10.12s to actually experience how stable and well made these drivers are.
Your argument about performance and price is null and void right there. If performance is there, then why not. And see the trend, it starts to perform better and better as resolution goes up. Then why not buy the card which is known to take less performance hit.
At lower resolution, both cards are churning out more than enough FPS.
Then why not a card which costs about same here, has more VRAM, has higher performance at higher resolution, takes less hit in performance when you up the eye candy and resolution, is performing at this level right at the launch with 1st driver set with new architecture, has better crossfire scaling, and has 2 DVI + 2 Displayport + HDMI ports ?
Its not like 5xx series has HPC advantage anymore. Nvidia compromised on that for better TDP and gaming performance anyway. Not that it mattered to gamers.
If anybody is gaming at 1600x900, they shouldnt be buying 6900 series or even GTX 5xx series or even GTX 470 / 580.
Even with a 10-15% difference in the current gen, you can easily expect the difference to be close to 20% or even more with AA at high rez esp in future games. So the price difference is justified.
If you get it for $235, you can even go for a 6870 for around $250 and that is perhaps the sweet spot for the time being. But if you want some extra juice, I really wouln’t mind spending another 20% which is just $50 to buy a 6950 at $300.
Hmm… I didnt see him mentioning anywhere what config he was playing on. I didnt read it thoroughly, but has he mentioned it anywhere? He just says it works very smooth.
the 6950 is budget performance for an enthusiast. u cant compare it with 570 honestly…
the 6970 is a high end enthusiast’s card. comparing it with 580 the price/performance ratio tilts slightly in 6970’s favour. if u have that budget then probably wait for the 5970 replacement and then buy 5970..
the 570 is once again an enthusiast’s card. but in between 6950 and 6970.
the 580 is the best there is in these four. but slightly higher in price than it should have sold for. performance wise a+. price wise b+..
