Help: Can NTFS & Fat32 Co-exist ?

I dont have any purple colour in any theme I use… what I use now is deep blue in colour … maybe your setup shows what is dark blue on my screen as a purple :slight_smile:

The theme I now use is called Luna Element. Get it from here… Luna Element 5.0.5 by ~tornado5 on deviantART

afaik there is no data corruption i ran two WINXP proffesionals on two separate partitions one NTFS and the other FAT32 with no problems at all :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

You can Convert a fat32 partition to NTFS using convert command without formating, and definitely NTFS and FAT partitions coexists.But be sure to convert because its irreversible , converting ntfs to fat will require formatting.Also MS-DOS cannot read NTFS drives , so it will be better to keep C:\ partition as fat and covert other to NTFS.

@shrka.. thanks for d info!!

Correct me if I am wrong - but I thought using the convert command of XP to change files system from FAT32 to NTFS has one hassle which is that this creates allocation units of 512bytes (0.5kb) whilst a normal format creates allocation units at 4096bytes (4kb). If this is correct then running a HDD with 512bytes allocation units size would be a bit slower.

well its better not to use ntfs having ur OS on fat.
its not a problem for xp but in win98 it’ll be a problem.
