Ran 8+16gb since in online it was said as long as the speeds and the generation matched it would run find
But on using this setup I’m having crashed frequently when using the laptop I did memtest and the ram wasn’t defective Also ran the pc with 16gb stick alone and it ran fine.
Even changing the slot placement didn’t work It doesn’t even boot up when I tried combining with the 8gb Kingston fury (that stick is just lying in the room unable to sell) Can bios tweaking fix this combo instability?
You said it yourself, Unstable RAM config. Are you able to manually set timings for both sticks? I’m not as familiar with laptop BIOS but most things are locked down so i want to know if you are able to reach BIOS while both sticks are installed or not and whether you can change timings.
Also telling us exactly which RAM sticks you have will help.
P.S. It’s no hidden secret that DDR5 RAM is very picky, unlike DDR4 RAM which can be mix-matched easily. In the end you might just have to accept it will not work out and just buy another 16GB stick of RAM, preferably from same brand or better yet exact model.
Open up HWiNFO64 and take a screenshot of the two DIMMS and their details, share them here. Most laptops will default to running the two DIMMs at the lower clock of two (i.e. 2666MT, 3200MT would probably run at 2666MT)
Open up Event Viewer logs (if on Windows) and take a look at the application crash or system crash events. They will have more details. Share them here.
