I know graphics card last longer. i want to know graphics card brand and model and how many years does it last until is dead . Please only mention real user experiences. People can mention if the person using his graphics card for more than five years and still working.
I have used my MSI Mech2 RX6600XT 8GB GPU for 4.5 years and sold it to another member here in July, 2025 and he is still gaming on it while I bought Sapphire Pulse RX9060XT 16GB in July, 2025 for 38.5k and itās working great until now.
Excluding manufacturing defects, it depends on how you use it. OC, voltage, temperature, and thermal stress affect GPU lifespan. In general, itās 6-12 years for well-known brands. I have an ASUS GTX 670 2GB still in working condition, and itās over 12 years old. I havenāt overclocked it and played games at recommended settings. I tried undervolting, but the stable configuration wasnāt worth using. Maybe my piece isnāt a golden bin.
My 750ti is 9 years old and still works fine. Just that, how you take care of it. And my 3060ti is 5y old and had to repair it cause I stripped a screw while repasting.
If you donāt open them and donāt overclock, they will last as long as any console lasts.
5+ years is lucky⦠the cards are not built like before these days. I expect 3-4 years from current gen cards. Owned 10+ cards both nvidia and amd.
what do you mean by this? i mean they are using bigger heat sinks and better fans, thermal pads or putty and what not? where are they cutting corners now?
genuine question
Humidity + dust is a problem if you are in coastal areas.
Still even without care, my old Zotac 1050ti lasted for 5 and a half years. It had visible oxidation damage after it failed.
Now I have Zotac 3080, no issue so far for 3.5 years. I do use a dehumidifier now and blow air over pc 2 times a year + dust filters / lower idle fan speeds. And i undervolt and use about 70-75% power limit and keep temps low for most games. Lets see what happens to card lifespan now.
Make GPUs great again ![]()
All my GPUs have lasted min 6-7yrs before they showed the sign of yamlok!
-
12yrs- XFX 6800gt before it gave up.
Point to note here- I never applied thermal paste nor changed the thermal pads ever.
-
13yrs- GTX690 and might be still going strong afaik even today. I sold it here 2yrs ago.
I used to apply thermal paste on it once a year.
And its not just ltd. to GPUs, I still have Processors as old as 20+ years like the AMD 3500+, Athlon 3200+, some sempton or athlon xp I think etc.
IDE Hard drives again 25+ yrs all in good health conditionās at least per the last time I powered them around 2yrs ago. They got some old data like isos etc but all good.
Even had working DDR1 DDR3 rams which I sold here some time ago all were 10-15yr old.
I have a 6600GT - Purchased in Dec 2004.
Powered it on last year. Still worked.
My first graphics card R9 270x died just after its 2 year warranty period. This hurt me a lot because it was worth a lot for a kid like me back then. If Iām to guess it most likely died due to high humidity environment. So keep your PC components including GPU away from humidity and dust them regularly. Your card will last 5-8 years minimum.
Many board partners donāt follow NVIDIA or AMDās recommended specs to cut costs, opting for cheaper components instead of the original design. A prime example is the POSCAPs issue, where NVIDIA recommended specific bypass capacitors, but many partners used the regular ones.
ASUS was one of the few to stick to the correct specs, which is why their cards tend to be priced higher but offer better reliability.
Brands like Zotac, Galax, PNY, and Colorful often undercut the market with cheaper options, but these may sacrifice long life.
But even with the cheapest card with low quality components, I expect it to run for at least 5 years. Given the power supply is stable and enough cool airflow is there under stress.
I bought a 5-year old GTX 1080Ti from here and Iāve been using it for almost three years. Donāt want to jinx it but it still works well. Only took it apart once to clean out the dust and repaste it.
I still have my msi 1060 from 2017, which ran 10-15 hours daily without a day off. And it is being continuously used for motion graphics in after effects since 3 years throughout the day and night, and rendering for 2 hours straight.
I have my Zotac 1070 mini from 2017. Still going strong. Still good enough for 1080p gaming
Iām using a Asus Radeon HD5770 since 2011. It is still running good my daughter plays Portal 2 on it.
I still have my MSI Armor GTX 1080 from 2017. Still works great!
Thereās no guaranteed number, but a well treated card from a reputable brand often lasts many years before dying.
Is it the black and white edition? I had the same one and it ran perfectly until I sold it on OLX for cheap. That thing had its shroud broken (and basically dangling lol) from where the screw holes were. Apart from that it was still working absolutely fine 7 years later.
