How to use perfectly working old PC hardware

I have an old Core 2 extreme QX9650 ES and a ECS G34T-WM motherboard with 2 x 2 GB DDR2 800MHz RAM, a nVidia GT-240 GPU, Corsair VX450 PSU and a few accessories like network card, etc.

Except for the PSU, which I plan to reuse, I don’t know what to do with the rest. I’m not wanting to use it since it is too old and underpowered for what I do, but it’s in perfectly working condition. I don’t want to throw it in the garbage and add to the e-waste. Any ideas?

Would anyone be interested to put this to any use whatsoever?

You can donate it.

Thanks for that link, but this one would guzzle too much power, I suppose. I don’t want to end up causing more harm than good.

Check DM pls.

I’ll take it if no one’s asked yet, I foster older computers and what you’ve described is an absolute dream.

Wow! Didn’t know that people actually would want this.

I’m not in a position to sell/ship right now. Would update the thread if I get ready for it. Sorry, guys.

Just curious as to what you guys will be using it for given how inefficient these have become power consumption wise.

I’d like to not give it away if I can use it creatively for something.

It’s perfect for a Windows XP gaming rig, a time capsule for games that were 3d yet blocky. Think GTA3 era.

Also a lot of us desperately wanted an Extreme Edition processor back then but none of us could put down $1000 for one, so it’s a nostalgia trip.

I’d be happy to have an extreme edition processor even if all I do with it it is use it as a adblocker or print server.

Install Linux other than that it is not much of a use. You can have fun with linux.

If you ever have use for a Quadro FX4800 or an FX3800 in any of your systems drop me a msg anytime and you can have them for the low low price of free.

They serve dual purpose…as a GPU and as a mini space heater

Anything below 8th gen is not worth running as the electricity cost will not justify it’s performance

I wasn’t prepared for so much interest. I had posted this thinking someone might suggest some use. Currently not in a position to give it away due to logistics even for pickup. I’ll update this thread if I don’t find any use myself and once I’m ready to part with it

dispose of them at my front door pls

I spend more time on OLX looking for older computers local to me than I do on this forum, that should tell you something ha.

OLX is good until and unless somebody is selling exactly what you have in your mind because we visit their house and check and buy.

If it’s a complete PC then it’s okay or else we have to roam around the city for different parts to be procured from different sellers.

That’s why I always prefer those who are selling their entire PC in parts so that I can buy the GPU or RAM I want from them in one go.

I once sold my entire PC of i5 6600k in 2018 to a man from Hyderabad local and he paid me in cash.

Then immediately I bought a i5 7300 laptop from another guy locally who imports gaming laptops from Hong Kong and sells them in Hyderabad.

My best pick so far was a Sun Ultra 24 and Keyboard in unopened condition from a guy who picked up piles of hardware from a government disposal auction.
