A reported data breach has exposed sensitive information linked to around 17.5 million Instagram user accounts, with the data now circulating on dark web forums.
According to reports, the leaked information includes usernames, email addresses, phone numbers, and in some cases physical addresses.
I agree with the point. If you don’t pay, you’re the product. but Meta’s don’t care attitude toward privacy is hard to ignore, especially when even WhatsApp is now showing ads. Many messaging platforms still try to prioritize user privacy. this shows how far meta drifted from its original privacy promise.
Technically they are correct because this dataset seems to be from 2022 (not even the 2024 one) and hence it is not a new breach. Instead, it is available on the dark web and password reset seems to have been triggered externally. It is bad for those who have been phished though.
I sincerely hope all the accounts of the so called nude wannabe pronstars who call themselves as INFLUENCERS get compromised and we get to see a clean instagram.
With 2fa enabled no issues and for basic authentication you wont be able to login and if you somehow do post pw reset etc then check the login locations.
Notice changes to your Account Info: Your password, email address, phone number, or username which has been changed without your knowledge might receive an email from security@mail.instagram.com about these changes; you can use the “secure my account” or “revert this change” link in that email if you didn’t initiate them.
Meh. What’s the point of leaking emails/phone-numbers. Leak them private chats, and share those chats with the friends list of the account. Lets watch the world burn together.
