Intel Processor N150 — 32 GB vs 16 GB

Wanted to start a small discussion around the Intel N150 platform. Officially, Intel lists 16 GB max RAM, but I found mixed reports, like some saying 32 GB is detected and runs stable, others say it either doesn’t boot or only uses 16 GB.

Has anyone here personally tried 32 GB on the N150? Did it actually utilise the full 32 GB, or does it cap out at 16 GB in real use?

Would love to hear your experiences :smiley:

@FortiCore may have some idea

16 GB is the the maximum supported RAM according to Intel.

Yes that is what was mentioned by OP. Sometimes Intel sets conservative memory limits for stability etc. They have done it before -

OEMs have the habit to lock the BIOS, it might not POST.
Depending upon what hardware is OP choosing to use, it is the safe bet.

National PC is selling this - MINIX NEO Z150 Aero Intel N150 Prosessor 32GB 2TB Win11

It is always safe to follow the manufacturers recommendation.

Yes they may but I have not seen it happen so it is worth trying if you already have a higher capacity module at hand. I have used higher capacity modules than official specs for older Celeron based mini pcs and NUCs without issues.

I am running the Zotac N100 from @aasimenator with mix of 8 to 32GB, over about 10 boxes.

The important thing is that it will not work with 32GB out of the box, you need to initialize with 8/16GB and then can upgrade to 32GB

These limits are artificial for the most part, just like Intel does otherwise.

I have seen many mini pcs with N series processors being sold with 32gb ram.
