Laptop won't POST after randomly screen went black and nothing was responding

I was updating fedora after installing it battery was low around 25% and it randomly went black only power button light and esc key light were working but not responding so I forced shutdown it and now it won’t POST turn on normal with fan spining for 2 sec but fans shutdown off but cpu is running I guess as it gets hot and after some time fans spin again but unresponsive

1.have tried hard reset by removing battery and CMOS clearing any residue power in capacitors by pressing power button for 1 min. Then connecting ac adapter and turning on but same thing

2.tried nova button that boots direct into bios or something like recovery mode I guess but same problem won’t respond screen black no logo nothing

  1. Tried connecting it to TV using hdmi no signal not working
  2. My phone charges if I plug it into USB ports I don’t know if it tells u something Have usb drive with light indicator but that light doesn’t work

Laptop name : thinkbook 15 G5 ABP Ryzen 7

Ram is soldered so can’t reset ram

Also F*CK discourse

Here’s video of what happens

Initial look, I feel its a power ic issue. My old dell had it. Relatively cheap to repair

Any idea how much would it cost if it’s power ic problem @kagz

Less than 3000 (my bill was 1300 - dell latitude)

Does the HDD light glow and blink ?

It doesn’t have hdd but SSD gets hot

I meant ssd/hdd activity indicator led light on the panel.

I’m confused there’s no SSD/hdd indicator not that I’m aware of
There’s light around the power button charging port and one battery indicator

ok ..checked the manual . No Led light indicator built into the laptop .
Crucial says the ram is upgrade able . https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/solutions/ht511469-removal-and-replacement-videos-lenovo-thinkbook-14-gen-2-20vd-20vf-thinkbook-15-gen-2-20ve-20vg

I would remove all things connected to laptop like hdd, nvme, display cable, sata, webcam… then try powering it on. With external keyboard attached via USB, if the caps lock key turn on, then bios is booted.

Next could be bios corruption or any of the components.

If the Ram is reseatable then do it , else reset bios , else reseat cpu and then reset bios again .
