Interesting my samsung monitor also has HDMI 2.1 but freesync and Gsync does not work with HDR on 4k on HDMI. HDR+4k+Gsync only works over DP for me.

I think VRR should be enabled on that hdmi as i also used it on my sony 80j tv.
