Mac mini 5 rumoured to have 512gb in base model

About 180-210 GB are free on Mac mini m4 out of the box.
If you add apps etc, and consider 50GB for that still you get about 120-150gb free. Not sure why yours is so less.

Im not denying that. But Apple’s threshold is very high.

Something ain’t right there. Shouldn’t be that much.

A reminder on this news. This news is dated 1st April 2025, recap is called April Fools Day.

Release date is rumoured to be Late 2025. Now because of current scenario is expected around in Mid 2026. 256 to 512 is a lot to ask in this age amidst the current shortage at the same base price.

It’s the holiday season of 2016, Apple’s announced their “hello again” event. I’m deep in the macrumors comment sections, the atmosphere is electric. Everyone is nervous, wild theories are being thrown around. You can feel the world as we know it is about to change forever.

I hastily grab a throwaway forum account and join in with:

hello again:

  • apple’s greatest strength and innovation today lies with their arm designs

  • intel peaked years ago with sandy bridge and subsequent designs ended up being incremental advances in performance at best

  • compare performance delta expressed as a percentage between any two iphone generations vs any two intel generations since sandy bridge

  • performance gains since 2013’s mac pro release have not been significant enough for apple to even consider a refresh in three years, this however may be intentional and based on subpar return on investment in research and design of hardware due to low sales volume

  • uncharacteristic of apple to allow itself to be indefinitely tied down to singular outsourced determinant like intel’s roadmap and release schedule, arm provides a way out

  • windows rt was interesting, technologically

  • amd zen wildcard

  • macos for ipad pro 12.9?

My analysis was spot-on but the only thing announced at that event was the touch-bar MacBook Pro.

The disappointment was crushing. I felt like something died inside of me. I didn’t even return to the macrumors website for at least five years.

The psychological trauma of it all left a permanent mark.

Ever since that day, I have completely avoided every single apple product speculation.

I even did away with the possibilty of any kind of buyer’s remorse by fully negating it — every tech or hardware purchase since that apple event has always intentionally been last-gen.

There’s no more FOMO and I don’t end up being a beta tester for any product’s first production run. It’s a safe, predictable, easy life.

Uncessary footnote: We did eventually get arm-based macs three years after this failed prediction but we never got an iPad with macOS.

iPad with mac os will come along with the SD card support in iPad, Iykwim. Before that we may see a mac with iPad OS.

Is the base m4 mac mini still a good deal at current price, knowing a m5 mini is a possibility in the next 1-2 years.

If Apple decides to continue 256G in base model of M5 mini, one thing to worry about is they may “fix” the SSD upgrade hack possible with m4 mini(s).

Lmao you guys don’t know the first rule of rumours. Never check on google. Always YouTube good creators for somewhat reliable rumours. Even then the accuracy is like 10%. And more importantly they miss a lot of stuff. Apple is really good at hiding and keeping you hooked.

I followed the iPhone 17 rumour curve and it was mostly correct.

I did get my rumours from Reddit so it’s filtered in that regard.

Well if you change the source completely reliability of those rumours will also change :man_shrugging:t2:
I did say above to check more reliable YouTube channels.
