dont know if you are facing this problem.
I am not able to login to MSN MEssanger it gives me the following error.
Gives me three buttons [Retry Cancel Help]
Which Messanger software allows to connet to yahoo & MSN etc…
How is Star Messanger
trillian and gaim or miranda are the most common multimessengers..
Sometimes even i couldnt connect 2 MSN earlier when iu had an old connection n when i used 2 dnload something..ie in an UN-IDLE state.Check it out.
In such cases i use Indiatimes Messenger 
I use Gaim n Trillian as an alternative… though Gaim is my all time fav, pretty gud, light n fast, less resource hoggin, or may b u can even try the webmessenger of msn. 
Ok tried Gaim but had some probs with my Win98 , currently using Instant Messanger 2.
But still no luck with Hotmail login in messanger.
Seems there is some probs with MSN.

Did u try Trillian??? and y dont u give a try the web based ones n see if problem persists or not

i got a prob with msn too… its like.. i sign in to msn.. that is the others can see that im signed in.. but in my msn window it still shows its connecting..damn.. i dunno why this happens... so i gotta keep retrying until i can see all my damn contacts... idunno why this happens.. it didnt happen on my old comp.. its really frustrating.. though..
