So, I need to buy a phone for my mother with an extreme budget between 8-9k.
She has a casual use case of youtube, whatsapp and other apps. There are some brands which she is not comfortable to have a phone from: Poco, Infinix, Tecno and Redmi.
Main Priorities: Must be smooth, have good enough camera.
If the budget is tight, then you might consider buying a second hand mobile, rather then buying a brand new one. Sometimes you may find good deals in classified section here itself. All the best.
Hmmm, havenāt used any recent Moto devices so canāt say whether you can remove/disable everything like we do in Redmi and realme devices. I had Moto g, Moto X(battery dead. Device still working), currently using moto g4 as a clock. My cousin bought it last month. His usage is similar to OPās.
Isnāt it really way over the budget that OP specified?
If warranty isnāt a concern for you, I would recommend the same. You can find a device with better specifications within that budget. I didnāt suggest this earlier because I havenāt bought a single second hand phone, soā¦
Buy her a Samsung. You can get good enough cheap ones for her Youtube and WhatsApp needs, and the Brand recognition will insulate your reputation against any future issues that may pop up.
If possible - give her the experience of āIn-Hand feelā between both the models at an offline store and give her the illusion of choice (while subtly nudging her towards the better mobile) - making it so that her āagencyā is highlighted rather than your ārecomendationā - the āchoiceā untimately will be hers. She will āprotectā her āchoiceā against any future scrutiny/second-guessing from friends/relatives firecely. So your reputation as the ātech guruā will remain unchallenged.
My mother uses CMF phone 1 and she does not have any complaints about it like all the previous phones sheās used.
She mostly uses it for Browsing, Shopping, Using payment apps and YouTube
The phone clicks pictures good pictures even if you shake your hand aggressively considering the fact that it doesnāt have any optical Image Stabilization
Just buy a little expensive and cry about it once rather than buy cheap initially and cry forever
One of the issues with older flagship phones is the battery capacity and charging speed. I use a OP7 myself and its battery has weakened a lot, canāt use it without charging it fully at least once in a day. This is with almost everything turned off. Better to buy a used mid-range phone from a year or two back. Also the camera quality isnāt as good anymore.
Get a LAVA Phone, i can swear by its reliability and good support in case something happens. Stock android too.
Source - Got me own mum a Lava phone and good so far for over a year.
This one should work - Lava Bold N1 5G https://amzn.in/d/093PLgj2
