If Livpure services your area, that’s the best, honestly. You don’t have to worry about servicing or setup costs, just pay a monthly subscription and they’ll take care of everything.

Eureka forbes/aquaguard guys are frauds.

We have been long term customers, have been taking service contracts.

10+y Old machine was fine, but they recommended to move to new, we did. New one has built in timer that just stops water after x time. Never happened before and usually water slows down instead of sudden stop.

Filter is actually fine but they stop based on time and then try to force people into buying new filter ( service contract does it ‘free’ once per year ). Eventually we realized this with input from guy who does the work ( he has been servicing for decade+).

Had it fixed, he removed something from the machine and its fine now. This basically is fraud done by new management type people after company got sold to some shitty American capital type company and they want ‘growth’.

Just a warning, that some companies do this. We are still with them since machine is fixed and guy who does the work is known person.

That said, even tata swatch gravity type filter can be fine if water source is good enough. It is in Mumbai, we used that during covid times without issue.

What is their avg response time for servicing issues ?

My parents also use Aquaguard which was bought somewhere in 2020. It’s filter hasn’t been changed since the last 2 years.

This is the water purifier which my parents are using right now.

Is there any 3rd party company which might provide service to them.

Please suggest.

New model which we bought 1-2 year back had this design feature.

Our old one was fine too.

1-2 days, and it’s prompt. One of my tenants has this. It’s not available in my area, but he bought it with him when he shifted.

Price comes to around ₹450 /mo for a small family, ~5400 /annum. ~27k over 5 years.
New machine costs ~15k, annual maintenance ~3k (at the very least), should bring total running cost to ~30k over 5 years.

Older machines were built to last, but newer ones are both expensive and require annual maintenance, even if the parts are in good condition, like @Tracer_Bullet mentioned.

  1. I dont know if this problem is industry wide. Just gave info on what we use.

  2. Machine cost was around 10k, got it through service guy. Service initially was for one year ( they force 1 year plan), dont remember cost but after that its around 6-7k for 3 years which covers parts service etc. So for 10 years, 10k + say 3k for 1 year ( probably lower) + 7k * 3 = 34k vs 27k*2. So say 15k-20k lower over 10years and with lower upfront cost. Seems fine i guess. Just from interest on that 10k at 6% you can get back 6000 too.

  3. Monthly service makes sense to avoid hassle if they do it properly and against fraud or for shorter term use. But it is relatively costly for long term use. That’s how it generally is i guess. Usually our service guy also shows up within a day or two.

It is. Every. Single. Brand.

I had a PureIt Classic couple years back. It’s an old machine, only had RO and MF, nothing fancy. But each time I called for servicing, they replaced all the filters and charged me ~3.5k. The quality of filters decreased over time. When my dad bought that machine in 2017, I didn’t replace filters for 2 years, and the water tasted fine. However, recently, the water started tasting bad, within 10 months of servicing.

Filters should be changed before pump goes, 2 yrs is a long period. Recently I changed all filters and pipes of my RO.

It will depend on your area. In some Aquaguard is great in others Kent is good. Probably best to ask in the facebook group of your locality, if you are part of such things.
And if your TDS is around 400-450 I don’t think you need RO.

You can get 1 locally for 5k-8k . Why go for brands when it is essentially the same POS . Get the local one and also make sure the guy has good service back up . Every year just change those filters and be done with it .

good service

Irrespective of brand or no brand, this is the key. This has to be timely as well. You do want to be left with a lemon and then have to run to get bottles. Especially when it comes to Senior Citizens.

I use an Aquaguard one in my village and Kent one where I live.
I have spent more than 8K on Kent in last 12 months and so am currently considering to replace it. I’ve shortlisted LivPure/DrinkPrime on consumption plans and Urban Company’s purifier if I end up buying a new one.

local shop with service would be best. most of the consumables are same and can be found easily. can save money if you can do maintenance yourself.
I’m using this undersink ro filter. You can check their other products. I installed this on my own. And added some other parts. Just use the link for price reference.

I use the same industrial size 25 ltrs /ph and a beefy pump . It cost me around 4.5 k including a stainless steel body . It has been a year and no issues what so ever . I am planning to remove the plastic tubes and do copper pipes for input and output . An important thing while considering water filter is to first get a mesh filter fitted to the main tank . A pre sediment cotton spun filter is also essential if the water filter needs to work properly without any hassle .

Doing this for almost a year now. Completely forgot about its existence. Paying like 500 bucks a month and taught my parents to test water if they feel anything off (never happened btw). They will service/ clean / replace it for free if any issues.

whatever u get bt please try to avoid UV and copper one….have friend who have wholesale business told these are not worth it bt people like to be diff and uniqueness of RO so they get bt in actual usage its not worth it

If you use tds controller to increase the tds, then it’s better to use uv and uf after. The water after the tds controller doesn’t come out of the ro membrane. Ro filtered output + tds controller output is mixed to increase tds.

Check TDS first, basis that you can choose to go with RO or not, I also see your comment down below stating you have an aquaguard one, if you choose to get aquaguad then they do buyback the old machine and give a good discount, you need to contact the service guy for this. If you do go with aquaguard, you can opt for their most basic plan, which is 2 visits per year, in that they will include the internal kit. A friend of mine who works servicing these machines recommends replacing the prefilter twice per year, so thats about 400 x 2 plus the yearly AMC. Although i find it expensive, it is super convenient coz the guy comes and does all the work themselves, which is good for senior citizens.
