Need help with bypassing BSNL ONT

Hi

I have a BSNL Connection with a Uniway router - UW-301VPW. I also have a HSGQ module with which I am trying to bypass the ONT.
I tried copying over the Mac (got the correct PPPoE Mac from the router settings and matched with BSNL Portal). I also tried the device MAC. Also copied over the serial but I still can’t get it to work.

Does anyone have any insight into this?

Along with changing the MAC, you also need to generate and replace the MAC_KEY using this tool. After that make sure to reboot the stick via the commit/reboot menu to ensure the settings are applied.

If you do not generate and change the MAC_KEY value you will get the LOID status as WRONG.

I tried this and still didn’t work

check THIS THREAD

I think I will explain more about what I have tried

LOID & Password - empty
PLOAM Format - ASCII
PLOAM Password - 1234567890 (default and it was the same in the BSNL ONT’s config file
GPON SN: GPONXXXXXX copied from the BSNL ONT’s Status Page

Vendor ID: GPON
Software Version 1&2: 3.1.02-230227 (copied from BSNL ONT)
OMCC Version 0x80 (default)
Product Class: UW-301VPW
HW Version: v5.0 (copied from BSNL ONT)
OUI: first six chracter of MAC
Device Serial Number: UWXXXXXXXX Copied from Sticker on ONT
MAC: Copied from Device Sticker
MACKEY: Generated from the link in this thread

The WAN Mac I am using in the OpnSense PPPoE interface

Did you tag the VLAN?

Have to tag vlan and select ports which you connect to the router which will dial the connection.
Once it’s working take config backup of both devices.

Yes I have tagged the 408 VLAN (got it from BSNL ONT) in the HSGQ Stick itself. I am not sure what you mean by select ports?

I did this successfully with Airtel but I have to get my vlans using omcicli mib get 84. That doesn’t work with BSNL since i think it’s registering it as an EPON and not a GPON.

Can you try tagging on the router?

Never mind

@Party_Monger But he is trying to entirely remove that device and replace it with the HSGQ SFP ONT. The Uniway ONT is no longer in picture right?

@haideralipunjabi Just so that I understand the current state, is the SFP ONT showing O5 GPON state? And when you say its not working, are you referring to the PPPoE connection not being established?

It’s in EPON mode and not GPON. I confirmed in the Uniway router - it was also working as an EPON.
The PON status does show as registered.

Also, like pauljacob suggested, I tried tagging it in my router (opnsense) and it isn’t working either.

Try these settings especially MTU: https://www.reddit.com/r/bsnl/comments/ht37q4/guide_for_bsnl_ftth/

Ah now i get it. Thanks

Tried the settings, didn’t do anything
