Need UPS Advice for a 1500W PSU

Is PC Kumar a reliable website? I’ve narrowed down this online UPS for a corsair HX1500i based system. Don’t care much about the battery capacity as I have a 3kVA inverter as supplement (but > 30ms switching time).

Check with watt meter how many watts the system is really pulling.

Replace the inverter? I know high-output Luminous ones have high switchover time but Exide ones have 10ms (a friend bought a 2300-2500VA or so inverter for PC + home appliances).

Yes, owned by 2 brothers they have a shop in sp road. It’s my go to place for PC components, he does price match with most other stores

About 1600W at the plug. I just need something that can handle the load till the inverter kicks in. No more than 50ms in worst case scenarios. Which is why I’m not too bothered about the battery capacity, as long as it can sustain peak discharge current. Currently the system just restarts during power cuts.

I’ve tried, but they don’t mention switching time on data sheets. It’s a huge gamble as you can’t return those after purchase.

Thanks for confirming. I’m planning to call them over the weekend for stock update.

What exactly are you running? :open_mouth:

Actually they do and its indeed <10 ms in ups mode.

Thanks for digging through the sheets. The switchover time in backup mode is still 40ms.

The issue with keeping it in UPS mode is it’ll constantly switch to battery mode even if there is electricity, thanks to the fluctuating voltage in my area. This just drains battery unnecessarily and may result in no backup when a real outage occurs. Which is also another reason I’d want to keep the backup and UPS separate.

Also, how did you insert gifs in the comment?

I know think may sound very obvious but try to install stabilizer for the whole house. It will protect other appliances of ur house from voltage fluctuations too.
We also have huge voltage fluctuations in our area especially low voltage issue.

Go for a 24V Microtek Jumbo inverter 2.5-3.5 KVA with a 100A/24 Lithium battery

It would serve your purpose most likely even with ur pc on full load

Talk to local inverter shop guy, tell him your requirement.

For my friend, when the Luminous didn’t meet requirement, same shop replaced it with Exide. Pay the shop token amount, ask them that you will pay rest when installation is done & it is working as expected.

I tried this trick when I purchased one for my place, different shop & area (though we are in BLR). I could have saved 1-2k by ordering online, but opted for local shop. Also, I got a good deal on a Li ion battery (much more compact vs 150Ah lead acid battery), hopefully this gamble doesn’t bite me back.

+1 to this.

Voltage fluctuation is a different problem
