• Japanese variant imported from Japan as Grade A around mid-2024
• Uses Toshiba NAND which has no durability issues unlike the Hynix/Samsung ones
• Modded language to English for both vWii and Wii U
• Wii MotionPlus controller included
• Wii sensor bar included
• 256 GB High Endurance SanDisk SD card used only with it
• Modded to run everything off the SD card to reduce NAND wear
• Rowa Japan 3000 mAh battery imported earlier this year, more than doubles battery life
• USB charging cable for Wii U gamepad, so can be used with any charger
• Modded to use included Ethernet dongle (much faster than the slow WiFi speeds)
• Modded to download games directly from Nintendo servers (suggest sideloading to SD card for large games)
• Native Gamecube support in addition to Wii
• Online support with Pretendo
Continuing in another post because of the 600-character limit without a character counter.
For the tape seen in the back of the gamepad, the screws were threaded (probably due to age), so had to drill them out to put in the new battery. However, it stays in place with the tape and there are no issues when holding in hand as the weight distribution is good with the larger battery.
Also, the joystick hat is okay, but the rubber is a bit worn due to which I have put the additional silicone hats which actually help with the ergonomics.
The Wii motion plus controller for use with vWii is the Wii generation one with the pairing button in the battery compartment. Would recommend using rechargable AA batteries with it.
Let me know if any other clarifications are required. There was quite some expense in setting things up the way they are, so would appreciate if not compared to any second-hand reseller posts elsewhere.
Woah, I didn’t know it could run Wii games too. What a great console. I wonder if it was unsuccessful only because of how ugly it looks or there were other reasons too
Main problem was with marketing, most saw it as a Wii add-on that they didn’t need. The focus on only the new controller also made most casual Wii users think that it was only a new controller instead of a console.
However, it indeed came to life with modding considering it supports the first 3 Nintendo consoles from the 21st century natively.
Also runs all earlier Nintendo generations up to PS1 games over Retroarch, though the Virtual Console ones are better where supported.
Honestly a great console, had a ton of fun with friends back in the day. GLWS!
It is one of the best Console from Nintendo. Right there with Switch 1 and Wii for me.
GLWS!
Also forgot to mention originally that I will be including the Wii sensor bar as well that plugs into the Wii U, though the Wii U Gamepad itself includes a sensor as well, so you can play Wii games directly on the gamepad.
Since prices are compared for the console alone, just wanted to highlight that there are costs involved for the additional items as well with the high endurance card which was purchased new in mid-2024 and only used in the Wii U costing over 3k and the new battery purchased earlier in 2025 costing nearly 2k, among the other things.
Note that the Wii U kills normal SD cards with writes rather quickly and you need a high endurance one.
I am removing the 256 GB SD card from the bundle as I will be using it in a CCTV.
Instead, I will include an old 8 GB card with all the boot files and modules required for the modding.
You can copy those files to a new SD card and use that or you can use the 8GB one for booting and then run content off a pen drive or hard disk.
Adjusting price to 12k + shipping with this change.
