Nv 8800 Discussion taken out from 8800 Go thread

I still haven’t decided to upgrade… with Crysis delayed, it does make sense to wait until G80 gets a DDR4 memory upgrade (and R600 might be out at that time too).

^^ Well to be honest, with absolutely no offence to Darky (We all know he’s doing such a great job, keep it up :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: ) that price is simply waay too high.

The GTS is gonna crash to 400-something in 2 months and that is the card to get, unless you waiting for R600 ofcourse..

on a side note i believe these cards will only be made by asus. And that no overclocking will be allowed from the manufacturers side. As always, the vendor such as big etc can change only the cooler.

Who told you Asus is Nvidia’s OEM manufacturer ?

As far as ATI is concerned, its Sapphire. Not sure about Nvidia though but i am sure it isnt Asus.Asus does make their own cards but they are definately not the sole OEM manufacturer.

^^The NV OEM board maker is flextronics AFAIK.

I remember reading that the design of the reference board was by asus this time as opposed to MSI who usually do it and asus would be the sole manufacturers of the first batch of cards

Yeah, I too read somewhere that Asus would be making the initial batchs of the cards. Dont remember where though :ashamed:

All I can say is that currently I am playing with something and also recived a beta-software for it. Now keep guessing the “thing” and “software”, as I am under NDA.

^^ Bleh…show off…lol

Has got to be the 88GTX or GTS, nothing else requires an NDA at this point in time :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

absolutely.

And the mobo could be the new Asus 680i ROG mobo.

^^ That seems a bit unlikely, the board is not even released.

the guys over @ XS havent yet got it and you expect it to be in India and under testing, reviewing ? Impossible i say !

I absolutely agree and it would not be 8800 either as it seems that the current nVidia drivers already have support for the card. It must be something related to SLI or Crossfire. May be bridgeless SLI/Crossfire with beta drivers :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: evil2:

IIRC ATI introduced the bridge for CF with the 1950 series.Correct me if i am wrong.

yup you are correct :face_with_tongue:

I really wish to say it all yaar, but this stupid NDA. We can give hints though,

4 power generators in 1 factory
generators being tested on an unreleased ground
2 fat ladies with two eggs.
The whole factory is being tested in a jungle

Guesss!!!Guesss!! Anyways most of the suspense will be cleared on 9th november 00:01 time.

8800GTX isnt all that power hungry as menioned b4.

Its 127 idle n 273 load.

Well let me guess, AMD 4x4 and Quad SLI on that green PCB Asus board ???

Is that it ?

:|…

What Darky said I think :face_with_tongue: .. lol…
