Obsidian in their latest update released bases, you might recognize a similar database structure in Notion.
Obsidian becoming more like Notion is funny because last week Notion published a guide on how to work offline and yesterday they officially announced their long promised Offline via email to their customers, becoming more like Obsidian.
It feels like I need to wipe the dust off my obsidian vault to compare both again. Do you guys use either? Will you give it another shot after these major updates?
I don’t even use internal linking in obsidian, I don’t think I will be using this bases any time soon.
I follow simple folder structure for organization, with one modification, separate attachement folder for each folder as oppose to single attachment folder for the entire vault.
I don’t use any community plugin. Only the ones which are official like canvas.
You must be storing your notes somewhere, obsidian is really good for that, due to minimalist design and markdown files.
No matter what happens to obsidian in future, as long as you have your markdown files, your notes will stay readable.
One piece of advice I came across online was this: when you’re busy researching, working, or just in a hurry, it can be difficult to decide where a note should go. Instead of overthinking it, simply open Obsidian and write it down in your Daily Notes. Then, after a few days, say 3-4 you can revisit your Daily Notes and take the time to organize all the accumulated entries, into the right folders.
Tried both Notion and Obsidian in past, but where too complex for me and my requirements. (all alone)
After O’365 family subscription, shifted to OneNote for note taking..
Found TickTick for time/tasks tracking, quite easy comparatively and been few years with both.
