Oled Monitor vs Oled TV

oled burn-in is accumulative. Screensavers don’t help. Monitor unboxed has said this multiple times.

Pixel refresh is a panel feature in which the screen turns off for a few minutes and it does something. I think it wears out less used pixels to even them out. No need to do this every hour, monitor does it on its own every 4 hours if its not being used.

Anyway, this is the burn in after worst case usage, not great but not too bad.

So, in theory you are removing the static image by applying screensaver.

Pixel refresh cannot be manually triggered but is part of a monitor technology. User has no control except for turning it off or on.

yes so obviously that helps, but it doesnt cancel what has already happened on screen, which is what i thought you were suggesting. Perhaps not.

Even better, just turn monitor off after inactivity. I set it to turn it off after 1min. Quickly comes back on mouse movement. Will have to make an exception for video players, but they probably do that already as i never had an issue.

I am not going to argue with all the experts out here but I personally will be avoiding using the display for my office work. I am getting a new desk with dual monitor mounts so I can have a second display for office work. Primary display will only be used for gaming and media consumption as much as possible.

Oh definitely. It doesn’t, once the damage is done or degradation has started, the screensaver won’t help for those pixels.

Its great I have no issues regarding blurriness, although im not to sensitive to that.
The only problem I have with the monitor is the black light levels, it looks more grey than black.
The TE background dragged across the ultrawide and my IPS laptop screens:

What is popular opinion on which game i should try first?

First berserker khazan is what I am in between now.

Assassin’s creed shadows i have installed but not played yet.

Below is what I am excited to try it might have missed a few for sure will add to backlog as i remember.

God of war 4/Ragnarok

Ghost of tsushima

Rdr2

Black myth Wukong

Uncharted series

Space marine 2

Fh5

Horizon zero dawn/forbidden west

Have only played RDR2 from these. Great game, slow game.

Oleds are super good for night scenes in this game and there is some decent bright lights in a few places too. There are two modes for HDR, i think one of them was crap - maybe cinematic.

I played with DLSS3, but with 4 the blurriness issue of RDR2 should be totally gone now.

After fine tuning and tinkering a lot of games can look great in HDR even ones that dont support it on their own.

Out of box we can have issues in HDR in many games. Raised blacks in most of them among other things. Cyberpunk for example isn’t good at all.

Doom eternal was fantastic oob, and was the first game that made me say wow. The two ori games also look great in HDR because of art style.

If interested, you can look at these tools for HDR - renodx / reshade lillium shaders ( and some more including autoHDR from EndlesslyFlowering etc ) / special K. There is autoHDR from windows and rtx HDR too ofc, win 11 only, but renodx/specialk should be better and lillium shaders can tell you whats happening. Very nice tools.

If you can install reshade, then renodx is generally easy to setup and gives best results if its working.

This guy has given a lot of info in past videos.

I just tried demo of this game. It does have good reviews, but my view - disgustingly blurry graphics and they maybe sharpen too which is odd combination. Probably they had bad performance so they used TAA or something like that to cover it up.

Even with DLSS4 quality at 4k it looks blurry and just odd. Gameplay is ok, but not my type and this is more of a coop game.

Great games, last one is the best and looks great.

I have completed the campaign twice, I like the visuals so far no issues faced in it.

Did you use DLAA ? That’s one thing i did not try before uninstalling. Played on TV from distance?

Perhaps its my own subjective preference as i dislike these kinds of soft and fuzzy graphics. Or demo is some old build but i do see people complaining about same.

Anyway, the demo atleast did not have HDR settings. So maybe doesnt support HDR.

If you like fast paced games, i would say go with Doom eternal as you don’t have to mess around too much, it already looks great from the start with default settings and no raised black level issues like so many other games.

I kind of went into the game for the game the visuals looked fine to me so far. I play on my desktop as i have mentioned before i don’t remember the settings but everything available was maxed out on 4k. I have played almost all games from Warhammer series and will most likely play the next one as well whenever it comes out…unless they make the combat shitty.

Same for Assassins creed, Far cry, COD(i have not bought MW3 yet due to the combat style mess up they did), and many others i will notice bad visuals only when they mess it up pretty bad like early days of cyberpunk when strange things happened with visuals.

Anyways thanks for all the inputs everyone i have learnt that i might have to play with settings in some games to make them look good and some like doom eternal will look good out of the box.

Alright. The broken ones often cannot be fixed without external tools.

If you need more recommendations, this guy reviews HDR in games too.

There are other games that have decent enough HDR. ME Andromeda was pretty good too, but game was very mid. RDR2 HDR is good in one of the 2 available modes.

tks bro, that is great to know, coz these inputs give me the score to go for it or not!!

Really sad that dead pixels have started showing up across my Sony A80J’s border’s. Though the display/audio is exceptional. I feel like I wasted too much money on OLED and will never buy OLED again.

It arrived yesterday, very good at gaming, i started asc shadows, text clarity is worst then my Ips, anyways i am looking for an arm to mount my ips on the side. will just bring it to front when gaming.
