A Good Horror Film…

Trailer:

Memories of Murder - This was a movie backed by a well written story based on true events. The progression of the character arcs are especially good. There are some lulls and some emotional scenes that don’t hit home but the movie is tied quiet well. A fantastic thriller.

Ronth - Shahi Kabir, once again brings a nice police thriller. Better than Officer on Duty but still not as good as Nayattu or Ela Veezha Poonjira. He brings his experience as a policeman to us and weaves multiple incidents into the movie. Worth a watch.

Anora - A decent realistic comedy. There movie does keep you curious as to what will happen next to a point but then its quite predictable. It doesn’t especially leave an impression, but isn’t boring enough to write it off.

Paranthu Po - I had great fun watching this movie. The kid’s character is so well written and executed perfectly too. There isn’t much of a story to it and its more of a peek into the daily life of a middle class family, but the various aspects are captured so well. If you have kids or want to, I highly recommend it.

The Devil’s Advocate - This movie was near perfect for me. Al Pacino’s performance was the greatest I’ve seen. The story is great albeit disturbing and it’s executed so well. The fact that its as old as I am and yet so well made is what is more surprising. I highly recommend it.

Weapons (2025) - 8/10

A fantastic horror mystery movie. The plot and it’s execution kept me hooked all the way through. A very unique story which is so rare these days. The director never once blew the lid off the mystery element all too fast… the pacing is near perfect and I loved that because I don’t care what anyone else feels but the ending was so satisfying… in a bloody gruesome way! Julia Garner has become such a solid actress, have liked her since Ozark days.

I actually even laughed during certain segments in the movie…

Three days of the Condor (1975) - 3/5

Perusu - The first 30 odd minutes of the movie are a riot. It starts tapering from there falling very sharply towards the end. It is however a decent watch and a very different kind of story for the Tamizh industry. If you want to watch something light and funny, this is for you.

Mississippi Burning (1988) - 3/5

A Good Thriller About Survival…

Trailer:

Julia is going to be what Ana Taylor-Joy could have been!

Coolie (2025 film): 4/10

Good parts: Cinematography, Actors’ performances, Music.

Bad: The whole story, screenplay, fights (esp rajni’s), shruthi’s dubbing.

Too many illogical things made me feel like the entire plot is a blackhole; straight up insulting the audience fr.

The Girl with the Needle: 8.5/10

Great cinematography.

Thought I was going to watch some sad war story after watching an insta reel, later found it’s entirely diffrnt and haunting. It’s more shocking that it was actually based on real incidents. Top notch performances too.

This movie feels way more deserving of an oscar win than Anora.

Watched Bring Her Back few weeks age - extremely visceral and difficult to watch for me!!

Sorcerer (1977): 9/10

Brilliant film. The entire 2nd half is very intense, and added with that strange bgm, it’s a great experience. Whatever flaws or logics exist, the overall experience makes us forget.

Would be a treat on imax, if they ever try to restore and release, but ofc it won’t happen, the movie was a box office bomb back then.

Music and cinematography are great too. Quite a surprise how they filmed all those scenes in the 70s.

Only thing I didn’t like was the ending shot, damn :frowning:

Coming after The French Connection and The Exorcist, this was another classic Friedkin. The only reason it flopped was Star Wars.
