Searching for Sugar Man (2012)
Heart warming story about a talented folk music singer in the 70s from the US who never makes it. Yet the producers of the two records he put out ranked him as good as Dylan.
Somehow his records get to apartheid South Africa and it inspires the whites there who are anti apartheid. Lyrics are banned by the government so he becomes an underground hit. Bigger than Elvis. Among whites in south Africa.
So in the 90s couple of S.Africans decided to look for him. Took some effort as nobody heard of him but eventually find him and get him to tour. In south Africa that is now free. It’s quite a shock as people thought he had died in the 70s and here was their idol singing in front of them.
So he finally gets his due over thirty years later playing to sold out gigs in South Africa.
Music is pretty good with hard hitting lyrics

A movie I would most likely never watch (just not into the niche), nonetheless what you wrote is interesting.

I was expecting a bit more considering this is a Hayao Miyazaki film, seems like even unc misses sometimes. This might be one of his weakest film if you ask me. I really liked his other films like spirited away and howl’s castle, castle in the sky, kiki’s delivery service and more. If someone’s planning to watch it I’d recommend you instead watch the ones I listed above. Back to the movie, I find its pacing very weird, main character weak and overall the story a weird one that had no conclusion. I feel like it could have been 10-15 mins longer to fill in these gaps and it could have been better.
Masthishka Maranam (A Frankenbiting of Simon’s Memories)
The movie is supposed to be a neo noir satire, but the real joke is on me for having gone and watched this in a theatre. The thin plot line is stretched over two and half hours for no good reason with quite a bit that could have been cut out, since its adds absolutely nothing to movie and, some of those unecessary sequences actually make it far less enjoyable. Besides a few laughs here and there, the movie is eponymous of its title “Brain Dead”.
the best thing about the movie is even after being 3.5 hours long, not a single minute of the movie was boring. How many movies can do that?
Not boring at all. If the movie ending hadn’t attacked common sense i would have given it 8/10.

A horror movie that’s below average…
Shelter (2026) - 6/10
Statham being STATHAM. If you like that sort of thing and enjoy watching him beating up baddies then you’ll like it. None of the set action scenes are spectacular though.
Bluff (2026) - 5/10
A strictly one time watch. Priyanka Chopra was good in the action sequences but her dialogue delivery is way too emotion less for the character she plays in the movie. Karl Urban was solid… guy can play both good and evil roles with equal poise.
One of those flicks that wouldn’t have really mattered even if it wasn’t made.
