My wife’s Pixel 6 (bought from TE market) fell face down yesterday. Although the display is not cracked or harmed in any way (there was no tempered glass or screen protector; just a basic silicone phone case), it has gone kaput. It shows patch of blue to green discoloration, and the text (“swipe up to unlock”) is faintly visible in the bottom portion. However, fingerprint is not recognized, and I am unable to enter the pin to unlock the device. I am unable to disable stuff like alarms. Although the data is mostly backed up and usable from other devices, I would like to unlock and factory reset the device before handing over to any service center guy. Is it possible? What are my options?
I will add some pics later in the evening.
Use a Usb mouse to navigate if the partial screen is visible or just guesstimate ?
I’m sure Google has a way to remotely wipe it if needed right ?
The SVC cannot access your encrypted data anyway.
Now the alarms…that you can reset or disable.
Don’t know why I didn’t think of trying this. ![]()
I do not remember if I have enabled this. Is it a feature that should have been intentionally turned on? Let me check it out.
Its auto switched on . You are on Pixel …. Bleeding edge controls of Google . You can remote unlock from Google Hub
Then practically you are out of luck as even if you try to flash factory via pixels tool (if it even exists) it gives a prompt on the screen for rsa acceptance while also requiring the device to be fully unlocked for performing a phone reset/rom flash.
If you want the display to be replaced then your only bet is local shops as they perform display installation in front of you and replacing the display doesn’t requires a phone to be unlocked. I have done it on my phones so can couch on that.
Use a usb c hub, some phones can mirror display over the usb c port.. And for password entry/using the device you can connect a mouse and keyboard.
You will have a setup similar to a raspberry pi, if that makes sense.
