Regarding wifi router for current need

Hello ,

actually am looking for wifi router, so would love some advice as it will make my search easier,

using 200 mbps plan currently ,might upgrade to 300 if needed in later months ,

also wifi 6E routers r either costly or unavailable here ,even online , also is it needed to choose wifi 6E ?

and if going with wifi 6 would be a better option ? ,also would that be a better option to go instead of wifi 5 ?

plus keeping chinese brands for last option , if nothing available then might choose one from them , also i did like ASUS RT-AX82U AX 5400 wifi 6 router, would love suggestions about this or others in same range , thank you .

Wifi 6E differs from wifi 6 only in having 6GHz band which is anyway not yet allowed by govt in India. Any wifi 6E device officially sold in India will have their 6GHz band disabled in driver/firmware. Wifi 6 aka AX router is the one to get nowadays as wifi 5 is now old tech. AX5400 wifi6 router is not really required for a typical home usage scenario here unless you often stream 4k videos over home wifi from home network devices (aka like wirelessly streaming 4k video from pc to laptop/smart TV, different from streaming 4k over OTT like hotstar over internet).

ohh, i see ,
was thinking to get one which i wont need to change in near future too ,
and any suggestions which u might think would be best ? ,
i looked up Microtik too , kinda not less in price that one ,
didnt find D-Link one or netgear in same range ,
thank you for replying

What’s your budget? Stick to TP-Link or asus (if you can afford it). Microtik is for experts who need advanced features like vlan. Cheapest wifi 6 router from TP-Link I would recommend is AX53U which is AX3000 wifi router & cost around 4k. Cheapest wifi 6 router from Asus though is RT-AX53U which cost around 5k & is AX1800 router while the cheapest AX3000 router from asus (similar to TP-Link AX53U) is Asus RT-AX3000 which cost ~10k & makes no sense because TP-Link AX73 which is AX5400 router cost around 8k while Asus’s own RT-AX82U AX5400 router cost ~11.5k.

Please share about the coverage and signal strength. How is the performance.

Yes, the signal strength is far superior than my other routers. I was initially using it as a standalone router. Never needed to reboot.

You get 2.5Gbps ports and can work even as a failover/load balancer and can even bond the connection.

PPOE works and can get iPv6 automatically using the ipv4 credentials.

Wifi channels are more than the ones we have in India, since it is of China region.

Streaming 4k movies uncompressed on 4 devices without any issues.

Also have SQM like capabilities that kills bufferbloat.

One concern would be the initial setup as the language is chinese. The other would be warranty.

Also, if someone is paranoid about security - it is Chinese.

As for the website - it is trustworthy but slow. It took them 35 days to deliver this but shouldn’t happen if they have the stock. They generally import from Aliexpress.

Hope this helps

If budget allows get wifi 7 or 6e device. It will be allowed in India within a year. And you can always enable it if you know how to. Not a big deal. Only in cases of mobiles you would not be able enable 6ghz.

Start by mentioning your isp ???

That’s a major concern, how can anyone setup any device whose interface is in Chinese without understanding Chinese or are you saying the initial difficulty is up to the step where once can change the UI language to English.

Google Translate once you get past the initial screen.
