A funny thing i noticed in these benchmarks is vanilla geforce 6800 is outperformed by 6600gt and that too by a significant margin in all benchmarks everywhere at all resoultions and levels of AA and AF.
Makes me wonder, what is it, is the performance of 6800 getting deacresed day by day or 6600gt getting better daily.
Thanks for the link Rocky.
Is there any ATi card better than Gainward 6600GT and falling in the same cost range.
Guys no ATi Nvida wars , just asking for a suggestion. [Peace]
Also should be overclockable. [optional]
And that card shud also be available here.
I am having Zero Ati knowledge
If you are getting it from abroad then definitely the x800xl (arnd 13k) in india however the price is too high i.e. arnd 18k.

didnt get you 2 costs 13K and 18K for the same card.
NO abroad purchase ne way
I will be looking around 10K does any ATi come around that 10K mark beating the 6600GT
but the 6600gt costs somewhere in the 9k region abroad (max)
Hehe like any exotic piece of hardware, after duties, margins of our greedy distys the x800xl costs arnd 18k in India when it is arnd 13k abroad. Hence my suggestion, and i believe it will be twice as better than the gainward 6600GT which is arnd 11.5-12k in India. Hope you got me this time…
And no, no ATi card @ the 10K mark comes to beating the 6600GT in india.
No PCIE ATI card at 10k mark in India currently. Toms is not such a reliable source, nevertheless I always maintained the performace diff between a 6600 GT and 6800 NU is negligible.
BTW the 6600 GT from Leadtek is for 6600 in US after rebates !!! Unbeatable price…
@ blade - i have a budget of max 10-12K for my GPU
So x800xl for 18K out of my budget.
So i will have to get the 6600GT for approx 10K thats my best bet her in India atleast.
I will be going for a Gainward 6600GT which is best 6600GT as per my knowledge.
I will be pretty satisfied with its perf.
What do you say guys is it woth getting a plain 6800 which is based on the
NV45 and 256Bit 256MB 325 600
or a NV43 128Bit 500 1000 based 6600GT is better.
Also can you suggest me the brand and cost of 6800 plain here in India.
Will a 6800 plain be better for its 256Bit 256MB in future game releases
As i dont plan to update my GPU for 2years.
But also feel that 6800 plain has very low Core & Ram speed
[any idea about how much can the 6800 plain be OCed]
6800 NU in PCIE is very expensive not worth it IMO. 6800 may OC pretty decently then again 6600 GT is a better bet at a lower price.
OK so you suggest me 6600GT over plain 6800.
Can you tell me the cost of plain 6800
Plain 6800 NU in AGP is for 14k, PCIE will cost around 18k
ok so forgetting the 6800plain 6600GT is final now.
I had this is my mind - Gainward 6600GT [PCI-E x16]
The golden rule is - Never trust THG. Trust your enemy but not THG. It was the only site in the world that recommended a 5800U dustbuster over a 9700 pro
.
Get the 6600GT for sure the 6800 aint worth the extra money especially in pci-e. The 6800 can be unlocked to full 16 pipes but i am not too sure about the performance increase and besides its not something which is 100% guaranteed.
Thanks a lot blade
And yeah.
The two best PCI express 6600GTs to get are
1.Gainward 6600GT
2.Gigabyte 6600GT
Both of them are known to overclock really well and gigabyte has much better cooler and built quality than others. But both of them may be slightly more expensive than XFX.
i am a ATi kinda guy i am going for x850xt as my next vid card
also consider the leadtek 6600gt. Great game bundle for a price tag a little under 10k.
Well as all of you already know, my Gainward 6800 is amazing. Do consider Quad, I bought for 13.5k you may get it for even 13. Wait for some time.
After all you get a 256-bit memory interface and the “6800” name !
