Buy steam deck or wait for steam machine because getting any desktop or laptop gaming PC for 50k is not sufficient in today’s time as you would need at least 1.5k lacs to get a gaming desktop or laptop nowadays.

I say get the deck because PC you know (cost) and steam machine may be a little underpowered - unless it’s sufficient for your gaming needs. The deck you can carry around too.

I will alyays keep a look out for good deals on PC parts/bundles and snipe them when they reach the right value. Fon example, I was able to snag a 20 TB HDD at ~20k after sales, cashback and instant bank discount by waiting for the deal, same thing applies for those Nvidea GPUs.
But getting RAM is going to be tough with the current market and you can try your hand on bundle deals from the likes of PrimeABGB. But if you are going the DIY route, you can dabble in refurb or used.
Please elaborate on your comfort in using Linux, which are the games you plan to “definitly’ play as well as your target resolution and refresh rates. On that note, weather the Electricity bill will be footed by yourself or by someone else.
Imo we should not expect steam machine to be under ₹ 80k - 90k

Steam deck hands down. Even though I have a PC, i’m looking to get a steam deck
Steam Deck is for portability, not sure why you’d compare it with a full sized desktop.
If you can get some DDR4 for cheap then get yourself an i5 12400F + RTX 3060/3060ti/3070.
Still perfomant enough.
Steamdeck with Lossless scaling is a match made in heaven for gamers

Unless playing at lower settings is a huge bother for you, go Steam Deck OLED all the way. It almost changed my daily life routine when I got it. It helped me get away from my phone and spend more time playing games I enjoy. You can play at night in your bed, sitting on the sofa. You’ll explore new genres, games, demos, all on the go. The portability and simplicity is a huge x-factor even if you don’t travel a lot.
