Sony WH-1000XM5 (Free) or WH-1000XM6 for 8K?

Sony has finally launched WH-1000XM6 in India, available on Croma and Amazon.

Pricing seems to be about 40K INR, with currently there being SBI card discount offer on Amazon. (about 37.7K effective price).

My office allows one time reimbursement of up to 30K INR for headphones/earphones (since the one they usually provide isn’t in stock), so I was planning to get either the WH-1000XM5 or the WH-1000XM6.

If you were in my place, which one would you go for? XM5 for free (can’t utilize balance amount from reimbursement) or XM6 for ₹7.7K?

The xm5s have issues with the hinges breaking if you don’t handle them well, id first try the xm5 though.

I would avoid WH-1000XM5 because hinge breaking is little more common than it should be.

highlighting the weak design .

and since your use going to be for work. It means it will be used quite a lot.

Even though i take great care of my SOny XBN910N …sometimes even i end up stretching it little more than I should when removing from my ears.

If I had to select from those 2, I would go with the WH-1000XM6.

Also, will you be using these for long and continuous hours? If yes, have you used headphones for extended amount of time? (Just asking because I’m unable to wear WH-1000XM4 for more than 1 to 1.5 hours at a time and keep on shifting back to earphones for comfort).

WH = headphone and WF = earphones (you wrote WF in body, and WH in title so that’s why wrote here)

Have you tried adjusting the clamping force on your xm4s by adjusting the spring steel band?

For long hours, I would prefer the Bose qc series over the sony xmh series. The sony headphones also tend to get much more warmer.

Yes, I did. My ears get hot and sweaty.

I had Sennheiser 598 with valour pads and open back design, I never had issues with it.

Sorry for the confusion, corrected. I’m only looking for headphones.

Yes, I have. Currently use Steelseries Arctis 5 wired ones. Sometimes 6-8 hours a day even.

Primary usage will be calls and meetings along with travel and commute use.

Aah ok! And yea they do tend to get stuffy as I have also noticed that my ears touched the inside pads while on while heaadphones like boses have a bigger cup.

I agree on this. Sony headphones though comfortable but tends to feel bit more tight on ears and makes it bit sweaty and warm.

Even I cannot use it more than 30mins -1 hr.

xm6 will be worth it for the better noise cancellation

Xm6 would be better tbh.

That’s the part I don’t get.

Sony are not work gear.

There are much better more specialised brands out there. Jabra for one.
