They will try this ,but i have a feeling it ll fail for enthusiast market.
However office work and others low intensity compute could well shift to cloud.
Which inturn would make enthusiast grade hardware more expensive in the long run.
Already office pc run thin clients .
Its still not widespread but with so many data centers it’lll make sense for these companies to make entry level hardware vanish and shift to cloud.
The hardware prices is increasing not only for the retail guys, but also for the CLOUD guys as well. Currently the cloud prices might seem cheap, but as the price adjustment happens there eventually, that is also going to become expensive.
Considering supply being diverted from one to the other, what do you think will happen eventually?
Thankfully Windows is forcing to switch to 11, and 11 is bloated with AI. This means 8g ram won’t be enough for basic tasks. This will force people to sell older hardware (especially companies). Enthusiasts can just buy such older hardware and build clusters. An internet cafe I know is shutting down by the end of the year, and I will try to buy all the CPUs for cheap. The only way to survive Q2 ram/ssd prices will be to use cloud and wait for used goods in reddit forums or local markets.
You can keep using Windows 10 IoT LTSC until January 13 2032
what is the difference between
windows 10 pro vs iot ltsc
Minimal, Bloat free & Uses less resources
It doesn’t even come with Microsoft store pre installed
It’s easy to add Microsoft store to LTSC if you really need it or you could use Winget or Chocolatey instead
Bought RAM and SSD around August 2025.
My friends are now comparing me with Warren Buffett
Just no. No more. Please. I’m tired.
My machine was upgraded to win 10 pro from win 8 pro retail and lost the original key. It is activated through my online account. Has extended support till oct 2026.
Will I need a key for win 10 IoT?
Yes ![]()
Activate it using - Microsoft Activation Scripts (MAS)
Note: This is completely safe but since you’re not paying Microsoft this is essentially piracy
and illegal ![]()
and definitely its not coming down any time soon
its going to stray like that for few more years
or the companies will kill consumer assembled or user upgradable hardware
we may see embeeded ssd and ram in near future, no more user upgradeable parts
