i was talking about the $7 plan. slow speed for slow people.
Each product is for different use cases, I don’t think satellite internet like Starlink is for areas which have good wired or even 5G connectivity. It is for those super remote areas with no other connectivity options.
If you already have access to Airtel Fiber or BSNL FTTH etc in your area, then it absolutely doesn’t make sense to get this. Its way cheaper and faster with the wired option.
Now, those in a super remote area with no proper connectivity options and want high speed connectivity, this opens up something which didn’t exist earlier and people would definitely go for it.
Its only a security risk if the right people arent bribed ![]()
True.
But I think for Army deployed in remote areas.
DRDO and BSNL already had launched such service way back in 2024.
That part is amply clear and was in fact mentioned by Musk prior to launch as well. Thing is that in US, the pricing was fine for those stuck with the terrible monopolistic ISPs.
In India, if the rural area is covered by 4G or 5G, it is still going to be significantly better even with limited data for its price.
Seems the market is quite limited and may be will appeal mostly to reach farmers and tourist spots in mountainous areas.
This is a total letdown and would be a huge failure due to pricing
We had VSATs much before 2023. But they are horribly unreliable.
Just curious, what was your use case? Where were you planning to use this?
VSAT uses INSAT or GSAT in India which are both in GEO orbits with significant latency. For Starlink we are talking about LEO satellites at 550 km, so the experience in terms of speed and latency are definitely going to be quite different.
everyone also share what should be the reasonable price per month and kit price. they might come with the similar price.
