I am looking for WiFi camera to monitor a baby specifically. My requirements:
Live video streaming with audio. Live audio is a must because one can know if baby woke up (must)
Mobile app on both ios and android (must)
Should work over WiFi and must be wireless (other than power cable) (must)
If I can view the stream on laptop, then it would be awesome
I want a single / individual camera. I don’t want all those CCTV types which require a separate channel DVR machine and needs to be connected to TVs etc.
I am thinking of buying this one as it is most bought and highest stars on amazon -
Do you use a camera for such use case? How has been your experience? What are some more features which are good to have? Appreciate any advice and suggestions. Thank you.
I doubt human detection will help here but live recording with voice will be helpful. I am using it outside so it will be more than enough for an indoor room with decent video quality. If you are open to second hand option then we can discuss.
In India only. Its a small 1BHK house. So baby sleeps inside bedroom and parents can do chores outside. Need camera to know when the baby is waking up. This is daytime too
I tried apps which lets you stream from mobile, but they did not reliably work. Stream would be stuck, sometimes audio would stop etc.
) on models sold abroad. Wonder why they included it.
The one in India omits the parent monitor to halve the price and makes you rely on your phone instead. Works just fine if you see towards the last third of the review
This looks like a dedicated baby monitor. The cheaper models are jerry rigged security cams.
I was considering getting a baby monitoring camera but ended up repurposing an old Android phone, and it works perfectly. I created a private discord server, connected my old android phone to it with the camera enabled, and added my wife to the server so she can monitor as well. I also installed discord on my work laptop to keep an eye on things anytime.
The only drawback is the lack of motion detection alerts, but since the phone’s microphone is enabled you can still hear any sounds if you’re connected to the server. Just remember to mute yourself or set the media volume to 0 on the old phone.
I hadn’t tried with Discord, but I tried with Telegram. After a while, the video kinda got stuck and would show same in repeat. So it was even difficult to notice that the stream had stopped. Kinda like how hackers would replay a small portion of the video on repeat in movies.
