Terrible Influencer = Oxymoron with high emphasis on the “moron”
In an interview, he admitted that he knows exactly what kind of content he’s creating. He even referred to it as “shit” himself, but pointed out that people clearly want to watch it, otherwise he wouldn’t be getting so many views.
What he’s doing is undeniably low grade, but he said it is unique in its own way. No one else is putting out content like this, and that novelty makes people curious. The views come because people want to see the spectacle.
Essentially, he’s running a circus and people can’t look away.
He claims that his performances allow him to help feed the poor, which he sees as justification for what he does. But in my view, it’s still a bad influence. This isn’t the kind of content you would want your kids exposed to, it essentially normalizes erratic and reckless behavior.
Brain rot BS. His viewers are as abysmal as he is. What’s next in the name of “Novelty”? Beastiality?
its not just “Indian Influencers”, most from other countries are sell outs as well, in the tech domain alone, there’s a shortage of genuine tech reviewers, in mobile space alone, its those smaller or more “indie” youtubers that have the best reviews.
I don’t even think it’s novelty, GenZ just loves this kind of weird content. He makes what people watch
Every big channel does this especially in India. Only a handful are prone it. The biggest reason being, they want companies to send products to them and if they say bad things about companies then they won’t get the products next time. Remember hardawre unboxed and nvidia.
This is prevalent everywhere not just in India. It’s just that Indians don’t earn as much from ad revenue compared to western channels and hence can be easliy bought or arm twisted.
My funda these days is simple. Look for smaller channels, smalller the better and see if they are answering the que i needed an answer to.
Big channels have stopped putting much effort in reviewing a product. They are only focusing on production value. I saw a lot of phone camera reviews recently and they don’t review much. Everybody is point and shoot a t defaults settings.
I would love to create a channel just to do these camera reviews but it’s very expensive. Maybe if I were earning in Dollars or Dirhams.
Mojority of Indian youtubers are just like salesman we see at local shops, can only read specs.
I’m not surprised by his popularity. Anything with shock value sells in this day and age, be it absurdity, vulgarity, violence or sexuality, although sexuality probably deserves a thread of its own, thanks to the supernormal stimulus it produces.
Our attention spans have reduced considerably, and things like reels and shorts play into that, and then make it even worse. So, to elicit any emotional response and retain the attention of viewers, people will always rely on the aforementioned things, and chances are that they’ll be successful, especially if they can do it better than others.
Same thing here. The shock value of violence, rage, bullying (power dynamics), being strong, and the community angle attract some people. Some even look up to such filth, since they want to seek such power over others for themselves, while entirely forgetting basic humanity in the process.
Let’s talk about comedy - stand-up or shows. It’s the same thing there. It’s rampant with sex jokes and abusive language as if it’s an inseparable part of a set. I wanted to take my mom to a stand-up comedy show, and it was ridiculously difficult to find someone who didn’t rely on these tropes. And the one or two guys that did had such expensive tickets that I decided to skip them. Luckily, there was a show by Angad Singh Ranyal, and since I’d seen him before and loved his humour, I decided to choose that, and was very glad that I did.
It’s the same thing with Bollywood. I could go on. This phenomena is everywhere.
Simply put, the masses will always be attracted to negative things since they elicit a stronger emotional response than positive things. I’d like to hope that these things change with time, people stop playing into their primal instincts, and seek something better, although I’m not holding my breath.
I fail to understand how it’s even remotely appealing to them, a grown-ass man acting mentally challenged, smearing himself in cow shit ![]()
I call them Hypoxic Oxymorons.
Influencers are how the corporations have infiltrated organic socio cultural spaces and turned individuals into propaganda machines.
The most hated ones on YouTube as per me are AI influencers. They deserve to rot in hell.
I don’t understand why the tech industry is hell bent on killing itself with this abomination called AI.
