TWS for small ears with great mic noise cancellation

I’m looking for an Airpods Pro 2 equivalent for Android. My outer ears are small, so need something which is a bit compact in size and will not constantly slip out. In-ear preferred.

I tend to take a lot of calls using my earphones, so I want something which can do noise cancellation for the mic (something like beamforming) so that my background noise is filtered out.

Wear detection, ANC, etc are nice to haves but I’ll be ok without them.

Someone please help out! Thanks

Firstly , it seems you will be using it a lot . I say avoid if you can. You are damaging your ears.
We have discussed this many times about cons of heavy usage of buds and headphones etc . Just search for it if you never gone through it.

this is just a friendly health advice.

Now to the point.
I can highly recommend Sony Link Bud S. I loved it. Light on ears and comfortable sat on the ears , great noise cancellation, Call quality was decent too( but i think maybe i tuned it badly for that or it was not so good) I really cant say for sure on voice calls.

But since lot of reviews have ended up liking it for voice call too . So I am guessing it maybe my personal experience only. I never cared about calls. AS I hardly took calls on them anyways.

Was just used very little also. Only during travels.

Only reason I sold was to save my ears and went for over the head earphones.

and for long use I will recommend something like that only. Instead of in-ear buds.

Hope the above info helps. Sony link bud S is little old model now. So may be others can suggestion something even better. However it was still one of the best buds in comfort too.

I actually don’t use it very frequently throughout the day. At home I typically use headphones for an hour or so when watching TV. TWS is usually for when I’m doing chores or exercising at home or the occasional work meeting when I have WFH.

I took a good long look at my tech usage habits a year or so back and I’ve cut down on device usage significantly. Put timers on all apps, including Chrome!

Thank you for your concern!

Sony WF-C700N might be a good option, they’re physically very small and light and designed for comfort. The mic says it has wind reduction, I’m not sure how well it does for other noise.

For comfort and small ears there are two options, nothing ears and Sony linkbuds S.

Lower end Sony mics seem to be absolutely horrible in anything other than perfect conditions. At least that’s what all the reviewers say

Nothing’s latest TWS seems to have great mics but they haven’t launched in India yet. Linkbuds are great for comfort but mics are pretty bad

I am looking at the Bose QC Ultra but it looks like only the 2nd Gen variant has good call quality

And the Sony XM5 TWS doesn’t have great mics to begin with.

Looks like CMF Buds 2 Plus might be a good place to start. Under 3k and great reviews all around.

You can try OG Bose or go with Samsung buds. I personally love sleek and matte TWS earbuds with high bass. Just keep in mind that it’s good to use noise cancellation mode in moderation.

From all the ones I’ve tried,

  1. In the budget range realme Air series has the strongest noise cancellation, cuts out a lot of the low end noises but not much of the high end. Sound is okay, somewhat neutral but still pretty boomy.

  2. If you’re looking to spend more, Samsung buds generally have the best sound for me, since I prefer a neutral sound signature, but Sony definitely has better ANC, this for the WF1000 series, can’t comment on the others. The Sony ones have more of a fun sound which most people will probably enjoy.

  3. Nothing’s newer stuff is a good middle ground,
the ANC isn’t quite as strong as realme Air or the Sony but it’s more balanced across the board.

The transparency mode doesn’t compare to Apple on any of these unfortunately.

I’m less bothered about ANC and more about ENC, i.e. the background noise my mic picks up during calls. Very few reviewers test for this (Picky Audio and DHRME on YouTube being few of them).

Theissue of the earbud not fitting is something which is specific to me and me smaller ears. Only the Airpods 2 Pro seems to stay put in my ears, everything else gets loose and eventually slip out (especially the left one). I’ve tried messing around with different sized eartips but so far no luck.

CMF Buds Pro 2 should be a good start then, has a decent mic and pretty good noise handling. Not sure about the shape and size though.

Bought the Buds 2 Plus for testing, it’s better than the OnePlus stuff I tested in their store but still not the best. Airpods Pro is still miles ahead in terms of comfort and fit.

How bad are the AirPods to use with android? I remember that you can’t change any settings I think but that was long ago so not sure.

Recently sometime managed to hack the protocol and make it usable on Android but they need a minor bugfix from Google to make it work on non-rooted phones. I’m eagerly keeping tabs on that project.

Oh right, I did see a couple weeks ago. I think it’s some Indian kid doing this too. Hopefully it gets that fix from Google.

First Google getting airdrop to work on Pixel 10 and now this, Apple’s walled garden keeps crumbling.

Which android?

Best I can tell, the Buds Core replace thebuds FE which had excellent call quality but no ipx rating.

What second gen?

^ has lousy call quality

See what score the airpods pro 2 gets for noise handling.

Both cmf & OP3 beat it
