The so called “government” actually should be banned, they really have no idea what they’re doing, just talking loud and saying nothing.
You can still use it and share the distribution.

Only the website was banned. Not the app itself.
How does one ban an app?
The government ban the app.
Simply ask Google India to remove the app from app store.
We’re talking about windows here. Windows applications are unbannable.
so are android applications theoretically ig?
Most people install apps through play store where apps can be banned. Most android apps are connected to internet and the app maker can turn them off from their side like aliexpress. Then google itself has a kill switch and it can kill any app without even informing the user. There are many ways to ban or block an app on android.
So, my question here is - Should I retain the existing VLC player on my PC without updating it ever or should I delete it from my PC forever? (Not that the Chinese or Modi Uncle will be thrilled to find the contents of my computer - No bank balance worth speaking of, Not an MBA which automatically means that I am not of any use to Indian society at large & no secret dossiers against the state. Just poems & half-finished stories along with visits to sites of ill-fame.)
I do not understand the reasons for this question. Can you please explain?
Maybe use VLC as a counter-surveillance tool against our own people just like Pegasus, Jio.
The pen is mightier than the sword.
Here’s the official ftp link for latest to oldest version direct downloads..
I was under the impression that when you update VLC, there could be issues on the computer.
Not in India, if the sword belongs to an MBA;).
If you read through the first page of this thread, you’ll see that there never was any issue with official VLC Player software. The issue was with a maliciously modified version.
Ya. My bad, didn’t read through carefully enough. Got it later. Thanks for pointing it out.
