Continuing the discussion from SSD and RAM price is skyrocketing now:
I can’t find any reputable or even decently priced 16GB/32GB microsd cards anywhere.
No SanDisk, no HP, no Samsung, nothing at all.
Whatever happened to this market?

Same story bro, forced to buy 128gb
Luckily…
But i use SATA ssd’s for reliability so : /
finding 1/2/4/8GB was a tough task in 2017 (for LCD with inbuilt storage)
mining in micro scale
I think as cellphones started replacing digicams with the enormous storage esp. the 64gb and upwards gave rise to the declining demands of such smaller value cards. I still have 16/32/64gb for my dad sony/nikon digi cams but all resting in the closet. They only get to see the light on some fine grand ceremony like a wedding or some extravaganza event. Else both the cams and the cards are as good as non-existent!.
Last card I bought was amazon basics 128gb micro sd card for 693rs in jan 2025. Which was very good value. Samsung/sandisk were 1k+ then. Presumed they would get even cheaper with time but its 1529rs today. LOL.
The price drop on 32gb and above cards made the lower capacities too expensive and sort of redundant. This was before price escalation. Now we’re stuck with high capacity and even higher prices.
I also just needed 8gb cards for my pi’s but had to buy 32 gb. Sadly all (3) of my pi 4s died but was able to make good use of the cards elsewhere because of higher capacity. Have a lone pi 3 running omv with 16gb sandisk.
Have 128gb samsung (oct 2020 @ 1200rs), 32gb samsung (may 2016 @ 590rs), chinese 64gb (came with miyoo mini plus) spare.
@psubus - That’s alot of sata usb cases, any comparison review?
I was on the fence to buy a sandisk 256gb at 1500rs before the price hike now i had to purchase 128gb at 1400rs locally.
Once 128GB+ Android mobiles, Dash Cams, and IP Cameras took the stage, only 128GB+ cards were the rapid movers. But offline stores still have 8,16 and 32GB cards from pre 2019 stocks.
Ii remember paying 1k+ for 1gb cards ages ago.
Have you noticed that even pendrives use is slowly going down. (Not as fast as microSDs)
What on earth are you doing with that Raspberry Pi Tower Rack!
Remember asking a local store for microSD cards availability a while back and he said he doesn’t have anything under 128gb
The thing with usb drives is that one larger drive could replace all my smaller ones. Have a bunch of 8/16gb drives but use only a single 128gb.
Micro sd cards not so much. They are all fixed in devices. I’m happy that some of my old devices have a micro sd card slot to add storage.
Keep an eye on quick commerce platforms (Flipkart Now, Amazon equivalent, Zepto, Blinkit), last week I managed to get a Sandisk Extreme 128GB for 1700 after all the discounts; it was listed at 1990/- , There were similar pricing on Flipkart now at 2k but no payment discounts
I have nightmares of my SD cards dying and loosing all the phone data from around 2010, I don’t trust them.
