After having a big doo-dah with my hardware supplier for overcharging on my last purchases I am now looking for a new supplier. I wanted to buy a Maxtor MaxLine III 250gb or a Hitachi T7K250 HDD and asked around at Lamington road and was quoted ridiculous prices. One of the big hardware dealer had the nerve to quote me nearly double of the normal price 
Anyone know of any “honest” computer hardware dealers at Lamington Road Mumbai ? Even half honest will do 
Well i have purchased most of my Hardware from “Computer Selection” - They are really descent guys.[Since 4 Yrs]
They decently price there products and will not say have the lowest cost but they
do replace anything faulty if its in warranty.
At least i have had a nice enperience.
Also purchased things from Plug n Play , Casette World[next to Computer Sel.]

Well assembled a complete system for my friend from Cassette World
They gave me nice rates for the entire system and they were resonable
and mostly same as other shops.
They have never overcharged.

just curious eazy what prices were you quoted for the maxtor and the hitachi 250 gigger
i was quoted 8.2k for a hitachi 250 gig here in chennai and 8.6k for WD
got the wd but it conked off on me, now replaced it with a seagate 250 gig thats 7.7k here now
The last Maxtor 250gb Maxline II Plus I bought for 7900/- a couple of months back… now I am quoted 7400/- for this drive as well as the Seagate Barras. Now I dont want this drive I want the MaxLine III which has 16mb cache or the Hitachi T7K250 which is SATA II. I have spent a lot of time on the Storage forums and have come to the conclusion that these are the 2 drives to buy… the new Seagate 7200.8 drives are not meant to be as good as their earlier 7200.7 ones.
There was this one dealer who offered me the 250gb MaxLine III for 13000/- !! 
I told him straight aways where he could get off

SamWik computers at Lamington Road, is good. Infact for AMD and high end mobos goto him, as other dealers just order from him and add their commisions.
Stay away from Casette world horrible service…
Is Samvik on the first floor near Cassette world ? If yes than I had been there for a TrippLite UPS they had advertised and they never had these and they gave me a run around for weeks.
Yep its them. I dunno abt UPS but for Proccy’s and mobos he quotes the lowest rates.

i buy max stuff from PC World…right next to Police Station while walking away from the policestation keeping it on ur right.
Though his rates are slightly higher than others…60-100 Rs. his service is good and i have no complaints.
Though, i recently bought a new HDD from a dealer of AMD proccys. right next to Brainstone computers…i forgot the name… it starts with a “D”.
As for best rates…go there around 11 AM. u will get the best rates

The last few hours I have phoned a lot of dealers and no one is able to supply the HDD’s I am looking for. I am sure that each dealer would phone up the same sources so these central sources must be keeping tabs of my movement by getting enquiries about the same HDDs from the various shops I have contacted. I am sure single handedly I have today created a massive demand in the market for 250 / 300 gb drives

I find their prices too high and I find that I have to hang around there for too long to get any replies… stopped going to this place. Enough said.

i asked at prime today.. for the asus a8n sli deluxe.. i was qouted 12100
and for the amd 64+ 3000 i was quoted 7700. the cheapest price from among 5 shops included pc world, computer selection and cassette world.
ya i buy stuff form computer selection.. damn good service…
even today i asked the price for the creative inspire 5200 speakers ..4800 bucks!! lol. th cheapest i got there!!
