I have used Crucial (Micron) - 256X2 and Corsair Value Select 2 X 256 together in my P4 machine and managed to get to 250FSB. At 1:1 ratio, and without any voltage adjustment, I can easily hit 220FSB. So, I guess both Crucial and Corsair modules will be able to meet your requirements. But with value RAMs and overclocking, there is always bit of a chance factor.
Anandtech has recently done a Value RAM round-up. You can have a look at that article. However, I am not sure about the availability of these RAMs in India.
well.. Value RAM and OCing .. its always a matter of chance if u want both.. perhaps if u are good friends with ur computer dealer u cud perhaps test ur RAM b4 u buy them..
i know my dealer very well.. and wehn i buy RAM for myself i test it b4 i buy it
You need to supply 3.3+ volts to it. So u’d either need to get a DFI mobo or voltmod ur mobo (But that’ll only get u upto 3.3) or the easy way out… get an OCZ DDR booster.
Hey Chaos.. u sure its the SP series? Coz, the Product description says - TwinMOS Dual Channel Kit 184-Pin 1GB(512MB x 2) DDR PC-3200, Model TMII400/1GB - OEM and the rated Voltage is 2.6V
Hmmm its the first one for sure. I guess they changed the naming. Its TMII 400 for sure that has the UTT. You can run it at 2.6V 2.5-4-4-7 @ 200 timings or supply it 3.3+ and end up doing 2-2-2 @ 250
Actually its a hit or miss situation with the TwinMos RAM, you just need to ensure your modules have the AA4T part number on them which confirms they are the Winbond UTT chips. If thats the case you’re all set to go for high speeds with tight latencies, assuming your board can supply voltages greater than 3V . If you’re in bad luck, you’ll end up with chips that have the AADT part number. If i recollect correctly, the 4 = Winbond, D = PSC chips (some taiwanese company that focusses on low quality chips).
If i’m not mistaken the SP(Speed Premiums) have a higher chance of having the Winbond UTT chips than the standard modules. Again among the Speed Premiums, the 256MB modules have a higher chance than the 512MB modules. However not too sure which category the TMII 1GB kit you linked us to falls in, but they seem to be having good levels of success as well.
On a further note, I guess Quad was looking for RAM available locally, in which case I dont think the SPs are available (are they?). Else if he has the option to order from abroad, i’d definately recommend the OCZ Value VX over the TwinMos SPs, as they too are confirmed Winbond UTTs, are pretty much the same as the higher-end OCZ VX(except for not having been hand picked and tested) and are backed by awesome OCZ service. However availability is a little rare for them, and the Egg has it for about 149$.
