But that’s the whole point, why compromise with “not so bad”? The difference is night and day, and it’s not just the resolution like I mentioned before.
As for touchscreen, that is completely inaccurate. The same Gorilla Glass tech used in phones is present in touch laptops, and think about where you ever see smudges on your phone? Probably only in broad daylight, and you are much more unlikely to use a laptop there. In short, not an issue at all. Furthermore, with Windows 8 touchscreens are extremely useful. Once you are used to touch, there’s no going back. I would say it is essential for most normal usage and personally I wouldn’t even look at a laptop without a touchscreen. Most people who have actually lived with a touchscreen laptop would say the same. Of course there are situations where it is not that useful, but for most normal usage it is invaluable. The touchpad is hardly a substitute for a touchscreen, but more of a complement. Together, the touchpad+touchscreen+keyboard combination works wonders.
You cannot compare touch in windows 8 to mac because mac hasnt released a touch os yet. I don’t know if you’ve used a mac touchpad before but its gazillion times better than windows touchpad.
The lack of touch in this case counts as a major dealbreaker, in the OS or otherwise. As for touchpads, it depends on the machine. I totally agree that Macbook Air has one of the best touchpads, better than almost all Windows laptops, but there are Windows laptops with great ones too. Such as Thinkpad X1 Carbon which I would say is even better. The gestures in Windows 8 are a major improvement, and the configurable three finger gestures are very useful.
Having a good touchpad is not in any way whatsoever a valid excuse for the fact that the lack of touchscreen is a major drawback that Apple needs to address immediately. Touchpads are NOT an alternative for touchscreens.

Current Macbook Pro 2013 13 inch the says last 12 hour but eventually U get 8 to 9 hours..
2012 mba 13 inch still gives 5 to 6 hours if its calibrated properly .
Haswell is just Mimic on part of apple..
One Should Only Buy Apple products doing a small research..

Theres a big difference between 7 and 12.
There is always something better …
The is IR problem in current retinas , altough its no big deal .
But thinking new haswell will have ,
1 .Battery around 10 hours
2. Much faster SSD
3. Fast wifi
4. Much better integrated gpu hd5100
And is around the corner , makes little sense to wait it out a little

Haswell is not a mimic certainly, but what he is trying to say and with which I concur is that Haswell makes sense much more for people who could actually use the 12hr battery life.
I would rather buy the cheaper last year model because there aint much difference performance wise and I couldn’t fathom a situation in which I would need to use it on battery for more than 3-4 hrs. Also Macbooks always had better battery life than their Windows counterparts so even the older model can run on battery for at least 4-5 hrs.
In the end it is all about priorities. For my kinda usage I would rather save the money and buy the rMBP’s last year model.

The 1.8GHz i5 in the 13-inch ended up being a bit quicker than the 1.3GHz 4250U this generation in the multithreaded test, but in single threaded performance the two are equal. The impact on the MT test is about 5%, it’s there but not substantial. Don’t be fooled by base clock, it’s the combination of base clock, max turbo and cooling solution that’ll determine performance here. As we found in our Haswell ULT review, CPU performance isn’t something you can expect to see more of with Haswell vs. Ivy Bridge in these low wattage platforms.

@nishthecooldude If your primary OS is not OSX on a Macbook then better wait for other alternatives with Haswell to show up. A Macbook makes sense when your primary OS is OSX. I have used OSX on a Hackintosh and for a complete experience I am shifting to a Macbook.
