Will 3.5mm jack antenna work to get good FM reception on Tablet?

I have the 8.7 Inch RedMi Pad SE tablet. This has FM radio as well and it works when wired earphones are connected and I can also play it through speaker (but wired earphones are needed as they act as antenna).

Can anyone tell me if I buy a 3.5mm Jack antenna and connect to the tablet and extend it, will I get good FM Reception (inside the flat)?

Is yes, where can i buy cheapest one? Is there some DIY thing possible?

I see no reason why this wouldn’t work.

Cheapest one I could find, not sure about the site/quality.

But this all a simple passive device, no active components. Should work same as your earphones.

This use to be a thing when only viable source to play music on car was fm radio.

Yes it should increase the radio signal reception if you buy antenna extender and plug it to the 3.5mm jack of your tablet.

Although no clue where you can get these. Amazon has few listings but I have no clue regarding the quality of the product.

If you just need it to work as an antenna and you can play the radio via the speaker then just cut the speaker part off some old pair of earphones, ofcource do remember to tape the bare wire although they have coating but still safe to do it. Else if you need a ridgit antenna the buy something like this- aux antenna

Can’t you direct audio to the speakers even with the earphone connected using native Android settings or apps like these :-

Yes that works out of the box. I can play radio using speaker but the earphones still need to be plugged in. Because they act as antenna.

Right so what is the problem if you keep them connected ? Or do you need the earphones elsewhere ?

Earphones don’t give that great reception unless i am actually near the window or so.

I am assuming the hard antenna would perform better even inside the flat.
