CPU/Mobo 3000+ Socket 754

ex-Mod
ok, after doing some research, hae narrowed down all my config for a PC. but as the title suggest, am a bit confused over the proccy

am going in for A64 3000+ but confused over which core to go for, newcastle or winchester or ?? :S .

need the one with the best ocing potential and this is going to be paired with K8N Deluxe :)

expecting a quick reply, coz need to buy it before 31st ( hehehe, VAT ;) )

if any comparison charts for the same can be posted, it will be helpfull :)

PS: Pls tell the approx price of the same in ur city :)

Hey.. Nice going buddy. About time too

You dont get Winchester on the 754.

You only get the clawhamer and and Newcastle.

clawhamer are mobile cpus. I have heard they run cool. but a regular 2800-3000+ newcastle will be good :)
One more thing the K8N Deluxe is about 7-8k and the 3000+ in 754 is 7-8k.
I think for this budget you can easily get a 939 and a8v or a msi neo2 plat.

Yup ...no winnie's in socket 754.....
clawhammer's have sme cache improvement over newcastle's....
newcatsle's better overclocker's than clawhammers
stock speed clawhammer's hav 5-10% advantage...
Yup...go for a 3000+ 939 for 7.5 to 8k
nd the new mobo by ati for 6.5....just check if its pci-e or agp...dnt remembr.

please post the combo price of 3000+ 939 and a suitable mobo :)
i'll see if i can go for that

EDIT:

my budget for mobo and proccy is 11k, or at max 12k.
am getting the K8N Deluxe for 6k and whats the price of a 754 3000+ newcastle?

and i dont think i can get the a 939 setup in that price

Clawhammer, clock speed 1-5% performance improvement is claimed over newcastle

Also,
3000 newcastle 754-7400
asus k8n-5600
asus k8n-e dlx-should be about 8.5k-9k i suppose

3000 939 7500
asus a8v dlx-8500

a decent 939 combinaion will cost atleast 16k

but it is not decent in real sense as the amd 3000 64 939 performs not as good as the 3000 754 ,it is the only cpu perhaps where it loses to 754.

Go for Amd 3200 939 or higher
Go for amd 3000 754-3400 for 754

Going for s939 solution will cost u arnd 14k, since a 3000+ costs arnd 7.5k-7.8k and the MSI Rs480 which is the cheapest mobo for s939 costs arnd 6.5k.

but then again, that mobo is PCIe and i want an AGP. also, 14k is out of my budget :(

so, which core for the socket 754? newcastle or clawhammer ?
need something cool and also good ocing potential appretiated ;) (both are related :p )

Hmmm
@Rave....u'll need atleast 14k for 939....
wit 939 ....dual channel, dual cores(if u ever wish latr).
754...no upgradibility......semprons 64bit in future wit higher speeds.....thts it

wit 12k.....u guessed it rite...thts the only option
or K8N (witout all those bells nd stuff) wit 3200+
K8N 5k exact.....................(mumbai)
3000+ or 3200+..not sure

Hey didnt c those posts......sorry:)
newcastle it is.....for OC
clawhammer...not good overclockers...depends on ur luck...but cme wit larger L2 cache

me talking about the deluxe mobo and not that plain one..
and i dont want to go in for a 939 setup with a crappy board coz if i wish to upgrade, then the board will hinder my performance and overclocking ability, so better to go in for this and save money for future upgrades :)
