Graphic Cards 4890 or gtx 275

hi guys, im really confused as to whether i have to get a gtx 275 or 4890pcs+
taking into consideration the price of the cards, im leaning towards 4890 pcs+.
my configuration is as follows

AMD x4 phenom II 940
2x2 gb ram transcend 800mhz
1tb seagate barracuda
20" Samsung LCD
600W coolermaster silent pro
thanking you

The Snake

I did extensive research on both when I upgraded last month.
My findings after like 50-60 hours of online R&D:
275 has a SLIGHT edge on 4890 overall, but in few games which are customised for ATI, 4890 edges out 275.
There is one particular model of 4890 by Saphire called Toxix Vapor-X which is better than ALL other 4890 and ALL 275 cards. Unfortunately not available in India.
So I finally got a Palit 275 from Prime @ 14K.
No regrets yet.

I will go for a MSi 4890 1GB OC,there is no big difference in gtx 275 and Msi 4890 1GB OC,

in few games msi 4890 1GB OC scores well and in some gtx gtx 275,pick any 1 of these or

go for a gtx 285 to see the difference

basically theres no clear cut winner btween those 2 ..if u see benchmarks ..hd 4890 has a upper hand in sm games while gtx in 275 in sm other

so in the end depends the pricing nd which brand u would prefer (ati vs nvidia)

:)

If you leave aside the VERY SLIGHT difference in fps in some games, 4890 is a technically superior product because it supports DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4. Also it has DDR5 memory compared to 275's which dont.
Though why this obvious technical superiority does not translate into higher fps in ALL games is because more games are customised for nVidia's platform than ATI. Just like on CPU front there has always predominantly been more support for Intel's platform instead of AMD, but that is changing rapidly.

dude, no way it is technically superior dan GTX 275.....if it has support for DX 10.1 which will be overlapped by DX 11 neway, GTX 275 has pshyx and cuda which evens the situation......structurally a HD4890 is not much different from a HD4870 apart from some circuitary advancements which helps in efficient power consumption.....but GTX 275 has 240 stream processors which is quite an increase from a GTX 260 216.......and NEVER EVER forget about the great driver support from nvidia which increases perfomance almost everytime......

GO FOR GTX 275 .........HD 4890 is good but gtx 275 is better overall

^ i think 4890 is more power consuming ..correct me if m wrong
also ..if u need to buy it ugrent go for it ..or else u can wait for dx11 cards

I prefer HD4890 for:

- Super cool GDDR5
- Supreme OCability
- Excellent temps(66C is just awesome compared to GTX275's 72+)
- Much lower power consumption(lesser than HD4870) (GTX275 is near GTX285 level)
