50-55 inch 4K TV Recommendations

Hi,

I'm not a big TV person but since the apartment I'm moving into has a pretty good TV unit setup already, I thought I would use it for watching some series in the background while I work. I did go to some stores to check out some models, but I found that I'm rubbish at judging picture quality even in stores. I had a feeling that TVs there were setup differently and couldn't differentiate between them all that well. I think I'll take the inputs of members than that of salesmen there. So, here goes:

1. Budget: Would like it to be low, but it's flexible. The price band I've got in mind is in the 25-50K range.

2. Viewing distance: 8-9 feet.

3. Sources/inputs such as HD DTH/consoles/stand-alone media players etc: Would be watching OTT content on it mostly. I plan to get a console in the future as well (PS5, most probably).

4. Preference for plasma TV/LCD TV/LED-LCD TV: LED or QLED (Is there a difference?)

5. Preference for brands: No strong preferences. I would like the after sales to be at least passable, though.

6. Willing to purchase it from the grey market? Yes, as long as the TV itself is reliable and chances of it going kaput are less.

7. Ambient lighting conditions of the room: It would be in a foyer with less lighting. I don't think there would be any harsh lighting in the viewing area.

8. Any other feature you are looking for such as 3D support on the HDTV, DLNA capabilities etc: Not sure if they are gimmicks, but stuff like HDR10 and Dolby Vision would be good to have since Netflix and Prime have content in those formats. Dolby Atmos passthorugh would be a bonus, though not necessary. HDMI eARC would be good incase I put in a soundbar.

I've shortlisted some here with pros and cons that I could make of (in an ascending order of price, used flipkart links for convenience):

1) Toshiba 55 inch 55U5050 (~35K)

Pros:
- Appears to be priced well
- Dolby Vision seems to work well
- Port selection seems to be good
- Pic quality seems good

Cons:
- Unsure of after sales support
- It's not running on Android. Not sure whether this would be a problem later on since I'll be using this to watch Prime & Netflix mostly.
- I think I've seen backlight bleed at the edges of this screen

2) Hisense A71F 50, 55 inch or 58 inch (~34-42K)

Pros:
- Seems to be priced well
- Port selection seems to be good
- Pic quality seems good
- 58 inch model seems to be VFM in terms of real estate per rupee

Cons:
- Unsure of after sales support. I'm hearing bad reviews of Hisense's after sales support.

3) TCL P615 55 inch (~40K)

Pros:
- Pic quality seems good (I liked the pic quality of the TCL my parents have)
- Seems popular

Cons:
- Reliability concerns. My parents have a TCL 65 incher and its motherboard blew at one point. The after sales took forever to replace it.
- After sales service. Maybe it's better in Bangalore.

4) Vu Action Cinema 55 inch 55LX (~47K)

Pros:
- Pic quality seems good (since it's a rebranded Hisense)
- There's a 100W soundbar on the TV- on paper it seems sufficient.
- I'm hearing that Vu's after sales support is good.

Cons:
- Seems priced higher than the competition.

5) TCL C715 50-55 inch (~46-53K)

Pros:
- Pic quality seems good (I liked the pic quality on my parents' TCL)
- Seems to be priced well for a QLED (Is there a difference between this and the vanilla LC/ED panels? I couldn't make out in the showroom)

Cons:
- Reliability concerns.
- After sales service. Maybe it's better in Bangalore.

I'm open to suggestions and better recommendations. Haven't shortlisted Mi TV-s since I think their pic quality is a bit on the lower side as compared to the above TV-s (I can be wrong, though). I won't be buying one immediately. I don't mind waiting- this is a last priority item for me.

Looking forward to your valuable suggestions and thoughts!

After sales support for anything apart from Sony, LG, Samsung will be in the range of bad to worse. I went for Philips because of this, though TVs from other companies were priced better. I live in a semi-utban/rural area and they were the only ones apart from the Top 3 that had a dedicated service centre close to me (still 70kms away) and had 2 years warranty by default. So I spent roughly 10k extra for this reason. If possible, go for LG or Samsung's cheapest offerings which start around the 50k mark, if ASS is a priority for you. Otherwise, both Hisense and VU TVs have good features and PQ for the money they are charging.

Hey, thank you! Are there any specific models that you would recommend?
