Guys,

See the score of my system here.
P4 - dual core 3.0GHz, :D
2GB DDRII, 400GB x 2 (RAID 0), :hap2:
ATI X850 XT PE. :O :O :O :O
19" LCD. :)

and 3d mark demo - score - 5804. :cool2:
is it good enough ?

i kept started task manager and saw only 45 - 55 % CPU usage while test. :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap:

i got 30 - 38 FPS.
i could not change settings as it was demo software.

what you think is it good score ?

The score is not top-notch. Perhaps with a little tweaking and the right drivers, u can score over 6500 pts..
 
Whoa 400GB raid 0. If it dies, u lose 800gigs of data. Be careful! Also that score could be improved with newer drivers. Why did u buy a dual core prescott of all things :S

about tweaking i made page file to Zero. :)

disabled many services.

tell me some more ways to tweak it for more performance.
can anybody tell me what is the CPU utilization while running 3d 05.

i am happy with the proc selection as multitasking is main concern for me.

i will update drivers and run this demo while running word, excel, outlook with atleast 15 mails open, 3 or 4 JPEG images ( all taken with 7MP camera ) so i can stress out my system.
 
I got 5900 with my 6800GT. Costs almost half of your card. My RAM was half of what you have.... check the "Post your 3D MARK 05/05 Thread" for more details

what can be the reason?
should i change RAID settings.
currently 160 GB is primary and 400 x 2 are in RAID
so you want me to install OS on RAID.

what else - XP Serivce Pack 2??? install it or let it be on SP1.

after running 3d mark 05 constantly 8 times my CPU and GPU both remain cool.
system was open and i touched it to check the temp.

what you think CPU is the problem?????

but cpu runs at 45 - 55% while running the test.
so it is not under stress.

Ram is also DDR-II-2 GB and Page file = Zero.
Sound Card is Audigy 2 ZS.

what more you want me to do to make my score 6K+
should i try to remove drivers and install it freshly.

Firewall is enabled on the system. Does it make any difference ?
 
Well first of all that CPU is not meant for gaming. You'll lose 200 marks or so cos of the CPU. Also make sure you are running DDR2 667MHz memory. Any lower means slower performance. P4 chips are bandwidth hogs. Second thing, dont disable page file. Thats the stupidest thing one can do. Set it to some 1GB and leave it. If you have multiple monitors connected, disable all but one. If you have any antivirus/firewall, disable it as well. Third thing... get Cat 5.7 from ati.com and rebench.
 
scores a tad too low ... enable pagefile and see if it helps . what drivers are you using as well ?

and as chaos suggested,it'd be better to remove those drives from raid 0 :O
 
while having 2 GB of physical RAM why do i need Page file.
please explain.

i've seen performance increase after disabling page file.

i have only 1 monitor - 19" LCD.

I will try removing antivirus, disable firewall and close all unwanted programs.

It is Dual Core CPU not single core HT.
as i told you cpu usage remain between 45-55 % while test.

dont you think CPU is enough powerful.
 
Well even with 2GB physical ram, you need space for paging. Its a bigtime myth that with 2GB ram u don't need a pagefile. I have a sys with 4G and still keep a pagefile cos thats how the current OSes are written.... no matter how much ram you have, a pagefile is still useful. The dual core P4 chips are the worst for gaming. They have a "STAY AWAY FROM IT" tag written over it if you really care about running any sort of games. Don't believe me... then check this...

Edit: The second core of your dual core cpu is not being used at all by 3dmark. Only the cpu test of 3dmark is multithreaded not the game tests. So a dual core is as good as a single core.... atleast in current games and 3dmark.

that is because most of the application / games are not made for dual core.
what do you think next version of 3D mark support dual core kinda test so i will have advantage that time.

slowly most of the applications will start taking advantage of HT or dual core kinda of things.

I know intel CPU are not made for gaming but they are good while Multi tasking.

i am not a game crazy.
i mostly work with OS.

i use VMware and run virtual OS on it so i can have LAN on one machine.
i install it on win 2003 and runs 4 XP client at same time.

what you think that time can AMD beat Intel ????

anyway i am enabling the page file.
i am making it 256MB.
 
Hehe well AMD dual cores beat Intel dualcores in everything.... Everything includes encoding! In gaming obviously there is no comparison.
 
If you want to disable Page File, upgrade to at least 4 GB of Ram. For any thing less, you will still need the page file. Other wise performance will suffer. Another reason for the low score is the Intel processor as mentioned by others.
 
Hey Avi, you finally got your new PC it seems.You purchased everything here or got it from Japan while coming ?

Btw,which mobo are you using ?
 
i am still in Tokyo.

this is the pc what ican get maxxxxxxxx after talking (fighting) with Dell guys.

this is Dell XPS Gen5 series desktop.

dont know about motherboard.

but not happy with the Graphic card performance.

do you think Dell use good mobo?

may be because of that my score is 2 less.
today i will try new fresh drivers and disable all services, break RAID and disable Firewall.

shall i overclock and check.
i am just dreaming for as max as i can but it is office PC.
if something happen then Dell wont help me out.

I have a very big problem here while explaing them about my requirement.
Tech Exe. person in Dell also behave like he dont know SLI kinda of thigs.

this rig is the best i could fetch from Dell.

Darky please help me can i do somethig else on this system to make it as fast as possible.

my company will ditch me.
as i told you it will take some time in corporate environment to start trusting on AMD. till the time Intel only..............

and about Dell i wont buy for me even if they offer at 50% price. :@
i love to make a system with whatever you want instead of preassembled.

next month i am gonna build my system. off course AMD 64 with DFI and i was planning for 6600GT extreme or 6800. :cool2:

but after looking at ATI x850XT PE now i dont think i will happy with 6800 plain. :huh:
let me see if i can buy x850PE. :P
