hey guys ...

i would like to know which is a better buy ..
a new 7600gs at about 6.5k

or

a used 6800gs overclocked model at 8k.

also is the 6800gs better than a 6800gt ???

plz help me clear my doubts. thanks.

Well i was suggesting approximately... Not exactly... The bigger picture is 7600GT replaces last gen high end cards... And 6800GT,GT,U are last gen High end... I was speaking in those terms... A 5-10 Fps difference is not much or is it :P...

That is sooooo wrong...

6800 GS is as good if not better than the 6800 GT. Mainly due to the super high speeds of the GS.... but GT has more pixel pipelines...... but the high speeds of the GS more than compensate

I m not talking about those Higher Clocked GSs. I m comparing the original ones here, just plain originals.

Nope....the regular GS itself is clocked higher than the GT....

The GT is clocked at 350/1000.

The GS is clocked at 425/1000....

But the GS can be oc'ed tremendously..... eVGA is selling a superclocked version at 490 MHZ!!!

So, I guess, 450mhz on the core should be easy on the non-oc'ed version.....

But The GS has 12 Pixel shaders and 5 Vertex shaders compared to 16 and 6 on the GT. But the super speeds more than compensate....

Well, anyways, the 7600GT is only 128-bit. That's why its so cheaper than the 6800GS.But yet when its 128bit, it would make it as half as good as the 6800GS

To clear everything up. 7600 GT ~ 6800 ultra > 6800GS = 6800GT > 7600 GS ~ 6600 GT. Dont think anyone can argue with that ;)

Mohit id say a 6800 GS would be a much better choice than a 7600 GS as the former has higher clocks( the OC'ed one even higher) and a 256 bit interface meaning much higher memory bandwidth compared to the 7600 GS with its 128 bit interface.
