my cousin's lookin to buy a card ...his budget is around 3k.. hes just ur casual gamer who just wants to play games not caring about gfx settings much ... just tht all games should work..
So i went to a shop they showed me the 7300le... said 3k for it... also for the gs 3.5k something..
i wanted to knw whts the main differencey btw the 2... and is there any other card tht he should look out for to suit his budget frm ati or something .....pci express... is it worth paying the extra 500bucks for the gs ??
let me knw soon..

It's advisable not to buy anything that says LE or XT in the case of Nvidia. It's generally a scaled down version of the series.(even though XT sounds cool, it's not)

The GS is better than the XT and approaches GT capability with a higher clock but I guess fewer pixel pipes than the GT.

That said, I've heard that the 7300GS is not much better than the previous 6 series i.e. it cannot match the performance of the 6800GTs and ultras out there. But availability of the 6 series is an issue nowadays.

Given your friends budget, I'd say 3.5K is a very good deal for a 7300GS considering that some members are trying to sell used 6600GTs at around 4K. But I'm no guru when it comes to the 7 series. Wait for the experts to reply.

^^ Err how can a 7300 card match a 6800GT :S ?

And here's the order of performance in the 4-5k bracket :

7300GS < 6600GT < 7300GT

Hope that clears doubts :D

When in doubt refer to rojakpot, an awesome link for gfx cards worth bookmarking.

As you can see same number of pixel and vertex pipelines, but both of them have a 64 bit memory bus, so u can kissing gaming at decent resolutions bye bye.
A 9800 pro will outperform these piece of crap by a margin, buy atleast a 7300GT where it clearly mentions a 128 bit memory bus.

Remember, having 256mb of video memory is not the same as having a 256bit bus, or a 128mb memory same as having a 128 bit bus.

some people are still selling there 7300gs from the ESWC event this yr for 2.5k bux, just post in market and you might be able to grab a good deal for your friend :)
