im buying a 7900 gs from the us...

i`ll be gettin it by yr end... so my questions...

1. how good is the 7900 gs...

2. wats the dif between the gs and gt is it just the 20/24 pipelines and how much of diff will that make...

3. wats the price of the card here???

4. is the 7900 gs a dx 10 card.??? am i ready for dx10 gaming???

the x1950 is almost 300$ i checked on pricegrabber.com

and one more thing is that the 7900 gs says its vista compatible so doesnt that mean that its dx10???

whic graphics cards are dx10???

the prob is that the card will have to be bought wit tigerdirect.com and there
they dont have these. cards... there the lowest one avail at 264$ whic is a his x1950 pro iceq3 turbo...

the ati card is tempting but 224 i really dont kno... plus it has only 12 month warranty...

the xfx card how good is that when compared to the evga brand wise..??? ive heard that evga is better than xfx...

and evga gives a lifetime warranty.. and if its hardly any difference between the xfx and evga then i`ll pick evga..

oh i overlooked it... the xfx card costs more than the ati card even... its 240... now isnt that a bit too much..

LOL didn't realize it was an MIR.... avoid MIRs like plague. Get the GS in that case. However I'd select the ATI card over a GS.

Chaos = Ati Ati Ati Ati Ati Ati Ati Ati Ati Ati Ati Ati, if it rains get an Ati... if it shines still get an Ati  ...do urself a favor and get an EVGA 7900GS, overclocks to 600/1550-1700(depending on ur luck) and beats a 1950 pro in almost all cases at that speed, wheres as the 1950 isn't that good of an overclocker.Head over to xbitlabs if u want proof, overclocked the 7900GS is alone at the $200 price-point. If u must grab a Ati , grab a X1950XT on the egg for $270( 625/1800 basically a X1950XTX 256 MB with the old cooler).Ur call.

i`ve already ordered the evga 7900 gs...wats ur say on that dead man...
i`m gettin it for under 200$ is that a good deal???
pci-e 256mb sli card...

yes i dont have a sli mobo but thats next on my list...

anyone got an opinion... go right ahead...

In every game under different testing methods we saw that 512MB does make a difference, and in some cases a large one. Quake 4's performance increases in Ultra mode were the most impressive here, but HL2: Lost Coast also showed some credible boosts. F.E.A.R was not so impressive but in real world testing 512Mb showed its worth, especially on a system with 1GB RAM.

We saw that most games in medium to high quality settings used far more than 256MB to hold all the texture data, and so the overspill is already happening you do need 512MB of VRAM to hold all the texture and geometry data in VRAM. The question is, does using system memory for some of this have an impact on performance, and the answer seems to be only in extreme cases where 100MB or larger spills into system memory.

It's so difficult to choose either way really. You could buy a 256MB card today and it would most definitely serve you well for a year or two, but on the other hand there is no reason not to get a 512Mb card other than price. The performance increase 512MB offers over 256MB is here today in game we all play and the gap will only increase with the next generation of titles, think UE3 and you'll get what I mean.

I should also point out that this article assumes we are talking about cards like the 7800 GT or higher, don't waste your time with cards from the mid to low end, the extra memory won't give you anything.

So, should you buy a 512MB card? Probably, but you'll have to look hard at the data in this article to decide that one for yourself. Personally if I were looking for a new video card to last me a few years I would not even consider a 256MB card. If you're like me and seem to have a new card at least once a year or less, don't worry too much, 256MB will do you fine

ok i read the article.. i understand..
but my whole point is just to have something like the 7900gs whic is certanly one of the better cards around... (pls.. i dont even consider 8 series ... thats alien technology....) and am lookin to use this till i get a dx10 card for a similar price... wouldnt that be a yr or 2 max...

see im on a 6200 tc i dont mind playin games on 800*600 at med res...
infact i dont think i`ve ever played any game at max detail even at 800*600..

now wit the 7900 i should start..and maybe i would be using it till i can play games at 800*600 med res b4 i look for my next card...
