I couldn't play the waiting game any longer and gave in 2 the tempations of the latest release :ashamed:
Had got a credit note of 16.7K INR, for my 2 months old PX8800GTS 320 which fortunately, Leadtek couldn't replace as they were out of stock :hap2:
So I got me the cheapest available, the Galaxy 8800GT for 14.5K (all inclusive) which actually is a basic Nvidia 8800GT reference card (with 3 yrs warranty) without even a Galaxy sticker anywere on the hardware nor does it mention anything abt any vendor in the software. All I got through Riva tuner 2.06 in the Vendor ID is 10de (NVIDIA)
Did get the CD but couldn't use anything from it as there was nothing for V!$T@ X64
I had totally decided 2 flash EVGA 8800GT SSC edition's Filmware (even after Bikey, stating his disapproval & FunkyMonkey stating it as unnecessary) and I definatly will (just 4 kiks)...but 1s, I ve a decent cooler hyeah:
That'll take time so I manually took the Core to 701; shader to 1729 & memory to 2002 (bit more than SSC), leaving the fanspeed at 75% through Riva Tuner 2.06 & started gaming
4 hrs COD 4 and the temps never crossed 71*C...they were Ideling @ 51*C; although I got quite a few "Device Drivers Failed & ve recovered" errors with 169.09 forceware winvista 64bit beta. So I went back to 169.02 forceware winvista 64bit whql and continued COD 4 for another 2 hrs...without any errors this time and the temps were now below 69*C  may be cause its was past sunset & winters r finally here in Mumbai :hap5:
Now I'll be continuing Crysis, which I played for abt an hr yesterday...till my NFS PS downloads finish
I haven't got the chance 2 record FPS & take Screen Shots yet nor did I manage any benches or tests (2 busy playing) but I promise them soon.
But 1 thing is 4 sure...the noise that the fan makes at 75% or even 65% is really irritating & a custom cooler is a must if U r gonna OC it.
So lets ve a look at the different available/soon 2 be available coolers.
