Graphic Cards A good cooler for 7900GT

Hi,
I have about 1.5K rupees with me and I want to cool down my Leadtek 7900GT. Now, I've never modded the stock cooling on any of the components ever before. So, I want to know,
-Can I replace the modded cooler with the stock cooler later on inconspicuously enough to pass an rma? (I heard only evga ain't touchy about new coolers)
-If I do decide to volt mod (which I really want to someday) lightly (1.4V), will the Rs.1.5K thing hold water(air?) ?
-How about them pci slot fans that blow on the gpu things? Are they as good?

Mine currently runs at 558/865. It idles at 54C and in peaks at 74C :(

You memory OC seems too high. 865, thats taking it over the edge. I have it at 780MHz and is working fine with 62C at load. People recommend not to take it above 800/1600 mark.

Yes you replace with your stock cooler and later get it changed, they dont look at it too much cause they think we have no idea how to do it. My friends did it and got it replaced without any problems.

Those fans can come handy, they do help somewhat reduce temperature of the card.

akS !

Sirius, I have an Antec VCool which fits into 2 PCI slots... paired it with my 6800gt and it dropped load temps by 7 - 8 degrees. I guess you can expect the same with your 7900GT. The VCool was used for 2 days so it's as good as new, and if you're interested I can ship it for 1000 (purchased for 1350 and still under warranty).

A custom cooler from Arctic or zalman would be any day better than a slot cooler if you can get it. However the slot coolers are also good value for the money spent. I am also using a GlacialTech slot cooler which I got for 750/-. though it does not improve the idle temperatures, the load temps improved for me. Earlier my 6800GT went above 80 deg on load in many intensive games. now I have never observed it going above the 72 deg mark.

Be careful man. These 7900GTs are proving to be problematic with many of them dying too soon.So go slow on cranking up the card man.As for cooling, frankly speaking nothing is available here if you are talking of third party coolers. If you can arrange it from outside then check out the Arctic Cooling ones,NV Silencer, its supposed to be the best.

That's a cpu h/s and not a gfx card h/s.

@siriusB,
if you are interested in a ZALMAN VF700LED - CU cooler kindly pm me. it is brand new , seal packed. it comes with 8 ram sinks and other accesories.

I had got it for my x1900xt , but since ATI (especially Sapphire) always use good h/s cooler on the gfx card (as compared to nvidia) it is not needed for it.

Here is the mfgr's link ..

Still one of the best gfx card cooolers around.
