I want to buy a phone from Flipkart.
Spice Mi-310 Price In India: Buy Spice Mi-310: Price, Reviews: Flipkart Mobiles

The price shown here says Rs.7399.
I went to a Spice Hotspot(equivalent to a Nokia Priority shop) today. I saw this phone and the representative there said that the phone costs Rs.8.3k
when I told him that the online price is 7.4k including tax, he said that the price did not include VAT and that it will be charged extra.

I want to know if this is true. Will I be charged extra up and above 7.4k if I buy the phone from Flipkart. I want to buy using Cash no Delivery option and I live in Kolkata. So will they take more than 7.4k when they deliver the phone to me?

All those who have bought from Flipkart or even those who have not bought from there but have an idea about this, please comment.

The link clearly states

Price:
Rs. 7399
(Prices are inclusive of all taxes)

So you won't be charged anything in addition. However, I have seen most online dealers putting up notices about shipping to West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. Probably there are some extra charges there. You would just need to confirm that.

That said, I would recommend you to look at letsbuy.com too. They have the phone listed for 7481, but there are 10% and 15% discount coupons which you can use to further reduce the price.

Buy Spice MI-310 at Best Price in India

I don't remember exactly, but I think the 15% one was RCOMLSB

Remember that if your state charges Octroi, it might be charged extra. Most couriers, however, pass through without Octroi slapped on them.

All other taxes - VAT, etc are included in the Flipkart MRP.

It is the total price you pay. Kolkata doesnt have octroi so there is nothing extra to be paid.

They will not charge you extra because the taxes are inclusive. I have bought 3 mobiles from them and they deliver it on time without any money hassles.

I think that in West Bengal, the buyer needs to provide some form 30 or 50 to the seller before making a purchase.

Get the lg optimus 1 from letsbuy.com using the rcom coupon...comes to about Rs 8800. Since you're willing to spend Rs 7300 anyway, add a bit more, and get a phone that seems a damn sight better.

And, no, I don't think you'll be charged anything extra. Call customer care and confirm.

Flipkart prices include everything, at least for Delhites, and at most shipping might not be included sometimes which will be barely anything and rarely charged and that too will show up before you pay. Also, they offer COD for most of their stuff!

I thought that the RCOM coupon offer had expired. Is it still available?

And anyway, my father wont let me buy it now. Have to wait till my exams end in June.

@others Thanks for all the input

Even I was facing the same dilemma.
The spice people told the online one can be a defective piece, or you wud have to pay tax blah blah...
But, indeed the online price is the final that you have to pay...

well, technically yes. And quite a few ebay sellers require it. But still packages from almost any big online shopping site like flipkart.com/futurebazaar.com/indiaplaza.com get through without hassles. At least I never experienced the seller wanting me to sell the form 50 or so to him.

Many ebay seller though will not ship without form 50.

^^ Even some Ebay sellers are asking for some form 30 for Jharkhand too. But I know there is no such rules in Jharkhand.

hi i m from thane district, mumbai.i recently ordered a phone from flipkart and dey provided me with a tracking id to track my order via courier service provider's site (AFL couriers).the status for the phone said shipment delayed due to octroi clearance.does this mean that i wud have to pay an octroi duty for the phone? or does flipkart take care of octroi duties?
flipkart's PAYMENT section clearly says that there will be no charge like octroi or sales tax etc...heres da link Flipkart.com: Payments READ POINT NO.2

REPLY ASAP !!! TY !!

Any Local charge like OCTROI- which i think is an archaic method of loot- is always paid by the buyer.

I do believe that in Mumbai the Octroi is imposed ad valorem (percentage On value)
